2월 21일 시편 37:7 여호와 앞에 잠잠하고 참고 기다리라 자기 길이 형통하며 악한 꾀를 이루는 자 때문에 불평하지 말지어다
기도하고 기도했으며 기다리고 기다렸는데, 응답의 증거는 여전히 안 보입니까? 무소식에 지쳤습니까? 포기하는 단계에 와 있습니까? 올바른 방식으로 기다리지 못해서 그럴 수 있습니다. 그러니 주님께서 여러분을 만나 주시는 장소를 찾지 못하는 것입니다.
"참음으로 기다릴지니라” (롬 8:25). 인내는 걱정을 모릅니다. 주께서 오시리라 말씀하셨거니와, 그분의 약속은 그분의 임재와 같은 의미입니다. 인내는 울지 않습니다. 왜 우리가 슬퍼하며 낙심해야 합니까? 그분께서 우리보다 우리의 필요를 더 잘 아십니다. 기다림에 두신 목적은 그 기다림을 통해서 더 큰 영광을 받고자 하심입니다. 기다림에는 자기 일이라는 것이 없습니다. 하나님의 일이 있을 뿐이고, 하나님의 일이란 믿는 것이니(요 6:29), 여러분 이 먼저 믿으면 모든 것이 온전함을 알 것입니다. 인내는 부족함을 모릅니다.
아마 하나님의 뜻이 이루어져야 한다는 마음보다 여러분이 원하는 것을 받고자 하는 욕심이 컸을 것입니다.
인내는 약하지 않습니다. 기다림의 시간을 낭비라 여기지 말고, 하나님께 서 방법을 마련하고 계시며 또한 여러분을 강하게 만들어 가시는 중임을 알아야 하겠습니다. 인내는 흔들리지 않습니다. “그가 나를 어루만져서 일으켜 세우며” (단 8:18). 하나님의 기초는 견고하니 우리 안에 그분의 인내가 있으면 든든히 서서 기다릴 수 있습니다. 인내는 찬미를 낳습니다. 찬양의 기다림이 무엇보다 좋은 것은 “기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르는(골 1:11) 경험을 할 수 있다는 점입니다. 기다림으로 이와 같은 인내의 모든 가치를 온전히 이루십시오(약 1:4). 우리의 삶이 풍요로워질 것입니다.
든든히 서라, 불길이 번져
마음의 교훈 배워야 할 때,
이 길에서 돌아설 수 없을 듯할 때
"인내를 온전히 이루라."
Wait With Patience
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him — Ps 37:7
Have you prayed and prayed and waited and waited, and still there is no manifestation?
Are you tired of seeing nothing move? Are you just at the point of giving it all up? Perhaps you have not waited in the right way? This would take you out of the right place the place where He can meet you.
“With patience wait” (Rom. 8:25). Patience takes away worry. He said He would come, and His promise is equal to His presence. Patience takes away your weeping. Why feel sad and despondent? He knows your need better than you do, and His purpose in waiting is to bring more glory out of it all. Patience takes away self-works. The work He desires is that you “believe” (John 6:29), and when you believe, you may then know that all is well. Patience takes away all want. Your desire for the thing you wish is perhaps stronger than your desire for the will of God to be fulfilled in its arrival.
Patience takes away all weakening. Instead of having the delaying time, a time of letting go, know that God is getting a larger supply ready and must get you ready too. Patience takes away all wobbling. “Make me stand upon my standing” (Daniel 8:18, margin). God’s foundations are steady; and when His patience is within, we are steady while we wait. Patience gives worship. A praiseful patience sometimes “long-suffering with joyfulness” (Col. 1:11) is the best part of it all. “Let (all these phases of) patience have her perfect work” (James 1:4), while you wait, and you will find great enrichment. —C.
