2항. 그 마지막 날에, 여전히 살아있는 성도들은 잠들지 않고 변화될 것이다(고전 15:51-52, 살전 4:17). 그리고 죽어있는 모든 자들이 바로 그들 자신의 육신으로, 그러나 변화된 특성을 가지고 부활하게 될 것이다(욥 19:26-27). 그리하여 이 육신들은 자신들의 영혼과 영원토록 결합할 것이다(고전 15:42-43)
고전15:51-52
51. 보라 내가 너희에게 비밀을 말하노니 우리가 다 잠 잘 것이 아니요 마지막 나팔에 순식간에 홀연히 다 변화되리니
52. 나팔 소리가 나매 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나고 우리도 변화되리라[But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.]
살전4:17 그 후에 우리 살아 남은 자들도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니 그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라[Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.]
욥19:26-27
26. 내 가죽이 벗김을 당한 뒤에도 내가 육체 밖에서 하나님을 보리라 27. 내가 그를 보리니 내 눈으로 그를 보기를 낯선 사람처럼 하지 않을 것이라 내 마음이 초조하구나[And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!]
고전15:42-43
42. 죽은 자의 부활도 그와 같으니 썩을 것으로 심고 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나며 43. 욕된 것으로 심고 영광스러운 것으로 다시 살아나며 약한 것으로 심고 강한 것으로 다시 살아나며[It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.]
3항. 불의한 자들의 육신은 그리스도의 능력에 의하여, 수치스러운 부활을 하게 된다. 의로운 자들의 육신은 성령에 의하여 존귀한 부활을 하게 되며, 그리스도의 영광스러운 몸의 형상으로 화하게 된다(행 24:15, 요 5:28-29, 빌 3:21)
행24:15 그들이 기다리는 바 하나님께 향한 소망을 나도 가졌으니 곧 의인과 악인의 부활이 있으리라 함이니이다[I have the same hope in God that these men have, that he will raise both the righteous and the unrighteous.]
요5:28-29 이를 놀랍게 여기지 말라 무덤 속에 있는 자가 다 그의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니 선한 일을 행한 자는 생명의 부활로, 악한 일을 행한 자는 심판의 부활로 나오리라[Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.]
빌3:21 그는 만물을 자기에게 복종하게 하실 수 있는 자의 역사로 우리의 낮은 몸을 자기 영광의 몸의 형체와 같이 변하게 하시리라[He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.]

2. At the last day, those saints who are found alive will not sleep but will be changed.5 All the dead will be raised up with the very same bodies, not different ones,6 though they will have different qualities. Their bodies will be united again to their souls forever.7

3. The bodies of the unjust will be raised by the power of Christ to dishonor. By his Spirit the bodies of the just will be raised to honor and will be made like Christ’s own glorious body.8
