영원히 땅과 바다를 품으시면서 인간의 어떤 기술로도 흉내 낼 수 없는 모양과 빛깔을 입히시는 창조의 하나님,
주께 간구하오니 오늘 제게 주님의 창조로 인해 기뻐하고 즐거워할 수 있는 정신과 마음을 허락하여 주옵소서.
제가 오늘,
주님의 아름다운 세계를 무심히 보며 걷지 않게 하소서.
도시의 유혹에 마음을 빼앗겨 광활한 들과 초록의 나무를 외면하지 않게 하소서.
작업장이나 사무실이나 서재의 낮은 지붕 아래서 주님의 위대한 하늘 지붕을 망각하지 않게 하소서.
주님의 모든 피조물들이 노래와 기쁨의 탄성으로 아침에게 인사할 때에 저만 홀로 칙칙하고 침울한 옷을 입지 않게 하소서.
주님의 지혜로 주께서 모든 살아 있는 것들에 불어넣으신 원기와 활기가 오늘 제 안에서 솟구치게 하심으로 제가 주님의 피조물들 가운데 살면서 빈둥거리는 게으름뱅이가 되지 않게 하소서.
무엇보다 이 세상의 아름다움과 제 안에서 일어나는 열정적인 생명의 자극을 사용하여 제 영혼이 피조물의 자리에서 창조주에게로 일어나고 자연의 자리에서 자연을 지으신 하나님을 향하여 일어나게 하옵소서.
늘 지상에서 우리가 베푸는 좁은 사랑과 자비를 넘어서
큰 사랑으로 역사하시는 오 주님이시여,
그리스도의 형제들 가운데 소자에게 행한 것이 주 예수 그리스도께 한 것이 됨을 기억하면서, 오늘도 모든 살아있는 것들을 향해 친절하고 다정한 마음을 갖게 하시고,
어린아이들과 병든 자와 가난한 자들을 생각하게 하소서. 아멘.
Creator Spirit, who is eternally aware over the lands and waters of earth, enduing them with forms and colors which no human skill can copy, give me today, I ask You, the mind and heart to rejoice in Your creation.
Forbid that I should walk through Your beautiful world with unseeing eyes
Forbid that the lure of the marketplace should ever entirely steal my heart away from the love of the open acres and the green trees
Forbid that under the low roof of workshop or office or study I should ever forget Your great overarching sky
Forbid that when all Your creatures are greeting the morning with songs and shouts of joy, I alone should wear a dull and sullen face
Let the energy and vigor which, in Your wisdom, You have infused into every living thing stir today within my being, that I may not be among Your creatures as a sluggard and a drone
And above all give me grace to use these beauties of earth without me and this eager stirring of life within me as means whereby my soul may rise from creature to Creator, and from nature to nature's God.
You whose divine tenderness always soars over the narrow loves and charities of earth, grant me today a kind and gentle heart towards all things that live. Let me not ruthlessly hurt any creature of Your. Let me take thought also for the welfare of little children, and of those who are sick, and of the poor; remembering that what I do unto the least of these His brethren I do unto Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
