12월 15일 스펄전 아침묵상 “오르바는 그 시모에게 입맞추되 룻은 그를 붙좇았더라.”[룻기 1장 14절]

"Orpha kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth clave unto her" (Ruth 1: 14).

Both of them had an affection for Naomi and, therefore, set out with her on her return to the land of Judah.  But the hour of testing came.  Naomi unselfishly set before each of them the trials which awaited them.  If they cared for ease and comfort, she urged them to return to their Moabitish friends.  At first both of them declared that they would cast in their lot with the Lord's people.  But on further consideration, Orpah, with much grief and a respectful kiss, left her mother-in-law and went back to her idolatrous friends.  Ruth, however, with all her heart, gave herself up to the God of her mother-in-law.  It is one thing to love the ways of the Lord when all is fair and quite another to cleave to them under all discouragements and difficulties.  Where do you stand?  Is your heart fixed on Jesus?  Have you counted the cost, and are you solemnly ready to suffer all worldly loss for the Master's sake?  Worldly treasures are not to be compared with the glory to be revealed.  Orpha is heard of no more.  In glorious ease and idolatrous pleasure her life melts into the gloom of death.  Ruth lives in history and in heaven, for grace has placed her in the noble line from which came the King of kings.  Blessed among women will those be who for Christ's sake can renounce all.

요절 : "그들이 소리를 높여 다시 울더니 오르바는 그 시모에게 입 맞추되 룻은 그를 붙좇았더라"(룻1:14)

오르바와 룻은 둘 다 그들의 시어머니인 나오미에 대한 사랑을 갖고 있었습니다.(즉 며느리인 두 사람이  다 나오미를 사랑했습니다.)  그래서 유대땅으로 돌아가는 길에 두 며느리는 시어머니 나오미와 함께 출발했습니다. 그러나 시험의 때가 왔습니다. 나오미는 사심없이(며느리들을 동정하는 마음에서) 과부들인 두 며느리를 기다리고 있을(앞으로 닥아 올) 고난을 두 며느리 각자에게 이야기했습니다. 그들이 편안과 위로를 원한다면 모압 친족에게 돌아가기를 재촉했습니다. 그러자 처음에는 두 사람 다 여호와의 백성과 그들의 운명을 같이 하겠다고 단언했습니다. 

좀더 깊이 생각해보고 오르바는 큰 슬픔과 공손한 키스(kiss)로 그 시어머니와 헤어진 후 우상숭배를 하는 그녀의 친족들에게 돌아갔습니다. 



그러나 룻은 그녀의 온 마음을 다해 그녀의 시어머니의 하나님께 자신을 맡겼습니다.

모든 일이 순조로울 때 여호와의 도를 사랑하는 것과 온갖 좌절(낙담)과 곤난에 빠질 때 여호와의 도를 붙잡는다는 것은 완전히 별개의 것입니다.(즉 형편이 순조로울 때에는 하나님의 말씀을 잘 지키는 사람도 역경에 처하면 말씀을 떠나기가 쉽습니다.)

그대는 지금 어디에 서 있습니까? 그대의 마음은 예수님에게 고정되어 있습니까? 그대는 주님을 따르기 위하여 희생될 비용을 계산해 보셨습니까? 주님을 위하여 세상적인 손실을 감수할 준비가 진정으로 되어 있습니까? 세상의 보물은 장차 계시될 영광과 족히 비교될 수 없습니다.(역자주1)

오르바의 이야기는 더 이상 듣지 못합니다. 아마 오르바의 생애는 유쾌한 편안과 우상숭배문화의 즐거움(쾌락) 속에서 살다가 사망의 암흑속으로 사라졌을 것입니다. 

그러나 룻은 하나님의 은혜로 그 이름이 만왕의 왕으로 오신 주님의 고상한 계보에 그 이름이 놓임으로써(들어 감으로써) 역사와 천국에 영원히 살아 있습니다.(역자주2) .  여인들중에 그리스도를 위하여 모든 것을 포기(부인)할 수  있는 분들은 복이 있을 것입니다.
