6월 29일 스펄전 아침묵상 “예수 안에서 자는 자들도 하나님이 저와 함께 데리고 오시리라.”[데살로니가전서 4장 14절]

"Them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him" (1 Thessalonians 4: 14).

Do not think that the soul sleeps in insensibility.  "Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise" is the whisper of Christ to every dying saint.  They "sleep in Jesus," but their souls are before the throne of God, praising Him day and night in His temple, singing hallelujahs to Him who washed them from their sins in His blood.  The body sleeps in its lonely bed of dirt beneath the coverlet of grass.  But what is this sleep?  The idea connected with sleep is rest, and that is the thought which the Spirit of God would convey to us.  Sleep shuts the door of the soul and bids all intruders to wait for a while.  The toil-worn believer quietly sleeps like a weary child who slumbers on his mother's breast.  Happy are they who die in the Lord.  They rest from their labors, and their works follow them.  Guarded by angel watchers, curtained by eternal mysteries, their earthly bodies sleep on, until the fulness of time brings the fullness of redemption.  They went to their rest with the furrowed brow and the wasted features, but they will wake up in beauty and glory.  The shriveled seed, so destitute of form and comeliness, rises from the dust a beautiful flower.  The winter of the grave gives way to the spring of redemption and the summer of glory.  Blessed are those who "sleep in Jesus."

    제목 : 예수 안에서 자는 자

요절 : "우리가 예수의 죽었다가 다시 사심을 믿을진대 이와같이 예수 안에서 자는 자들도 하나님이 저희와 함께 데리고 오시리라"(살전4:14)

영혼이 무의식(無意識)속에서 잠잔다고 생각하지 마십시오. "오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라"(역자주1)라는 말씀은 죽어가는 모든 성도에게 주시는 그리스도의 속삭임 입니다. 그들은 "예수 안에서 잡니다."  그러나 그들의 영혼은 하나님 보좌 앞에서, 하나님의 성전에 계신 주님을 밤낮 찬송하며, 그의 피로 그들의 죄를 씻어주신 주님께 할렐루야를 노래하고 있습니다. 몸은 풀 홑이불에 덮인 쓸쓸한 흙 침상(침대)에서 잠자고 있습니다. 그러면 이 잠은 무슨 잠입니까? 잠과 관련된 관념은 안식(rest)입니다. 

그것은 성경에서 우리에게 알려준 생각입니다. 잠은 우리의 영혼의 문을 닫고 모든 침입자(세상의 모든 일에  대한 수고)들에게 잠시동안 기다리라고 명하십니다. 수고로 지친 신자는, 어머니 품속에서 평화롭게 잠자는 피곤한 아기처럼 주님의 품에서 잠을 잡니다. 주 안에서 죽는 자들은 행복합니다.(복됩니다.) 그들은 그들의 수고에서 벗어나 안식합니다.(쉽니다.) 그리고 그들의 공적이 따를 것입니다.[그 공적이 그들이 받을 상급의 근거(자료)가 될 것입니다]

그들은 지킴이 천사에 의하여 보호되며, 영원한 신비의 휘장(막)에 가리운 채, 구속의 충만이 이루어지는 때의 충만이 올 때까지(완전한 구속이 이루어질 때까지) 그들의 땅의 몸들은 계속 잠잘 것입니다. 그들은 주름진 이마와 쇠진(衰盡)한 모습으로 잠들었으나 아름답고 영광스러운 모습으로 깨어날 것입니다. 쭈글어 져서 모양도 없고 예쁘지도 않은 씨앗이 먼지같은 흙(the dust)에서 아름다운 꽃을 피웁니다.(역자주2)  그래서 무덤의 겨울 다음엔 구속의  봄과 영광의 여름이옵니다. "예수 안에서 잠자는 자"들이 복이 있습니다.

주2 먼지같은 흙(the dust) : 본문에서 "the dust"는 시적 표현으로는 사람의 시체를 상징함. 즉 흙 속에서 아름다운 꽃이 피어나듯이 우리인생의 시체(흙 먼지)도 하나님의 생명의 씨로 영광의 부활의 옷을 입는다는 뜻을 함축하고 있다.
