1After Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the officials, the craftsmen and the artisans of Judah were carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the LORD. |
1הִרְאַנִי יְהוָה וְהִנֵּה שְׁנֵי דּוּדָאֵי תְאֵנִים מוּעָדִים לִפְנֵי הֵיכַל יְהוָה אַחֲרֵי הַגְלֹות נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶל אֶת־יְכָנְיָהוּ בֶן־יְהֹויָקִים מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־שָׂרֵי יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־הֶחָרָשׁ וְאֶת־הַמַּסְגֵּר מִירוּשָׁלִַם וַיְבִאֵם בָּבֶל׃ |

2One basket had very good figs, like those that ripen early; the other basket had very poor figs, so bad they could not be eaten. |
2הַדּוּד אֶחָד תְּאֵנִים טֹבֹות מְאֹד כִּתְאֵנֵי הַבַּכֻּרֹות וְהַדּוּד אֶחָד תְּאֵנִים רָעֹות מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תֵאָכַלְנָה מֵרֹעַ׃ ס |

3Then the LORD asked me, 'What do you see, Jeremiah?' 'Figs,' I answered. 'The good ones are very good, but the poor ones are so bad they cannot be eaten.' |
3וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלַי מָה־אַתָּה רֹאֶה יִרְמְיָהוּ וָאֹמַר תְּאֵנִים הַתְּאֵנִים הַטֹּבֹות טֹבֹות מְאֹד וְהָרָעֹות רָעֹות מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תֵאָכַלְנָה מֵרֹעַ׃ ף |

4Then the word of the LORD came to me: |
4וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹר׃ |

5"This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians. |
5כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּתְּאֵנִים הַטֹּבֹות הָאֵלֶּה כֵּן־אַכִּיר אֶת־גָּלוּת יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר שִׁלַּחְתִּי מִן־הַמָּקֹום הַזֶּה אֶרֶץ כַּשְׂדִּים לְטֹובָה׃ |

6My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. |
6וְשַׂמְתִּי עֵינִי עֲלֵיהֶם לְטֹובָה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִים עַל־הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וּבְנִיתִים וְלֹא אֶהֱרֹס וּנְטַעְתִּים וְלֹא אֶתֹּושׁ׃ |

7I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. |
7וְנָתַתִּי לָהֶם לֵב לָדַעַת אֹתִי כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה וְהָיוּ־לִי לְעָם וְאָנֹכִי אֶהְיֶה לָהֶם לֵאלֹהִים כִּי־יָשֻׁבוּ אֵלַי בְּכָל־לִבָּם׃ ס |

8" 'But like the poor figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,' says the LORD, 'so will I deal with Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt. |
8וְכַתְּאֵנִים הָרָעֹות אֲשֶׁר לֹא־תֵאָכַלְנָה מֵרֹעַ כִּי־כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה כֵּן אֶתֵּן אֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־שָׂרָיו וְאֵת שְׁאֵרִית יְרוּשָׁלִַם הַנִּשְׁאָרִים בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וְהַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃ |

9I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, an object of ridicule and cursing, wherever I banish them. |
9וּנְתַתִּים [כ= לִזְוָעָה] [ק= לְזַעֲוָה] לְרָעָה לְכֹל מַמְלְכֹות הָאָרֶץ לְחֶרְפָּה וּלְמָשָׁל לִשְׁנִינָה וְלִקְלָלָה בְּכָל־הַמְּקֹמֹות אֲשֶׁר־אַדִּיחֵם שָׁם׃ |

10I will send the sword, famine and plague against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their fathers.' " |
10וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי בָם אֶת־הַחֶרֶב אֶת־הָרָעָב וְאֶת־הַדָּבֶר עַד־תֻּםָּם מֵעַל הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר־נָתַתִּי לָהֶם וְלַאֲבֹותֵיהֶם׃ ף |
1바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살이 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 여고냐와 유다의 신하들과 기술자들과 대장장이들을 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 잡아 간 뒤에 여호와께서 여호와의 성전 앞에 놓여 있는 무화과 광주리 두 개를 나에게 보여 주셨다.
2광주리 하나에는 처음 열려 잘 익은 좋은 무화과들이 들어 있었다. 그러나 다른 광주리에는 썩어서 먹을 수 없는 나쁜 무화과들이 들어 있었다.
3여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. "예레미야야, 무엇이 보이느냐?" 나는 이렇게 대답했다. "무화과가 보입니다. 좋은 무화과는 아주 좋은데, 나쁜 무화과는 너무 썩어서 먹을 수가 없습니다."
4그러자 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다.
5이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "내가 이 땅에서 바빌로니아 땅으로 쫓아 낸 유다 백성을 그 좋은 무화과처럼 좋게 여기겠다.
6내가 그들을 잘 돌보아 주겠고, 그들을 다시 유다 땅으로 데려오겠다. 내가 그들을 헐지 않고 세우겠으며, 뽑지 않고 심어서 자라게 하겠다.
7또한 그들에게 내가 여호와라는 것을 알 수 있는 마음을 주겠다. 나는 그들의 여호와가 되고, 그들은 나의 백성이 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 그들이 온전한 마음으로 나에게 돌아올 것이기 때문이다.
8나 여호와가 이와 같이 말한다. 유다 왕 시드기야와 그의 신하들과 이 땅에 살아 남은 모든 예루살렘 백성과 이집트 땅에 살고 있는 백성들은 너무 썩어서 먹을 수가 없는 나쁜 무화과와 같다.
9내가 이 땅의 모든 나라들로 하여금 그 백성을 악한 백성으로 여기며 미워하게 하겠다. 모든 나라 백성들이 유다 백성을 비웃고 조롱하며 손가락질을 할 것이다. 그들은 어디든 내가 흩어 놓은 곳에서 저주를 받을 것이다.
10내가 전쟁과 굶주림과 전염병을 그들에게 보내어 그들이 모두 죽임을 당할 때까지 칠 것이다. 그들은 내가 그들과 그 조상들에게 준 땅에서 다시는 살지 못할 것이다."
