창세기14:17-24

17. 아브람이 그돌라오멜과 그와 동맹을 맺은 왕들을 쳐부수고 돌아온 뒤에, 소돔 왕이 아브람을 맞아서, 사웨 벌판 곧 왕의 벌판으로 나왔다.
18. 그 때에 살렘 왕 멜기세덱은 빵과 포도주를 가지고 나왔다. 그는 가장 높으신 하나님의 제사장이다.
19. 그는 아브람에게 복을 빌어 주었다. "천지의 주재, 가장 높으신 하나님, 아브람에게 복을 내려 주십시오.
20. 아브람은 들으시오. 그대는, 원수들을 그대의 손에 넘겨 주신 가장 높으신 하나님을 찬양하시오."아브람은 가지고 있는 모든 것에서 열의 하나를 멜기세덱에게 주었다.
21. 소돔 왕이 아브람에게 말하였다. "사람들은 나에게 돌려 주시고, 물건은 그대가 가지시오."
22. 아브람이 소돔 왕에게 말하였다. "하늘과 땅을 지으신 가장 높으신 주 하나님께, 나의 손을 들어서 맹세합니다.
23. 그대의 것은 실오라기 하나나 신발 끈 하나라도 가지지 않겠습니다. 그러므로 그대는, 그대 덕분에 아브람이 부자가 되었다고는 절대로 말할 수 없을 것입니다.
24. 나는 아무것도 가지지 않겠습니다. 다만 젊은이들이 먹은 것과, 나와 함께 싸우러 나간 사람들 곧 아넬과 에스골과 마므레에게로 돌아갈 몫만은 따로 내놓아서, 그들이 저마다 제 몫을 가질 수 있게 하시기 바랍니다."

17. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
18. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21. And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23. That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24. Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

18. いと 高き 神の 祭司であった サレム の 王 メルキゼデク も, パン とぶどう 酒を 持って 來た.
19. 彼は アブラム を 祝福して 言った. 「天地の 造り 主, いと 高き 神に / アブラム は 祝福されますように.
20. 敵をあなたの 手に 渡された /いと 高き 神がたたえられますように. 」 アブラム はすべての 物の 十分の 一を 彼に 贈った.
21. ソドム の 王は アブラム に, 「人はわたしにお 返しください. しかし, 財産はお 取りください 」と 言ったが,
22. アブラム は ソドム の 王に 言った. 「わたしは, 天地の 造り 主, いと 高き 神, 主に 手を 上げて 誓います.
23. あなたの 物は, たとえ 絲一筋, 靴ひも 一本でも, 決していただきません. 『アブラム を 裕福にしたのは, このわたしだ 』と, あなたに 言われたくありません.
24. わたしは 何も 要りません. ただ, 若い 者たちが 食べたものと, わたしと 共に 戰った 人¿, すなわち, アネル と エシュコル と マムレ の 分は 別です. 彼らには 分け 前を 取らせてください. 」

17. After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
18. Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High,
19. and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.
20. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21. The king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself."
22. But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath
23. that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, 'I made Abram rich.'
24. I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me--to Aner, Eshcol and Mamre. Let them have their share."
