7월 6일 역대하 20:12 우리 하나님이여 그들을 징벌하지 아니하시나이까 우리를 치러 오는 이 큰 무리를 우리가 대적할 능력이 없고 어떻게 할 줄도 알지 못하옵고 오직 주만 바라보나이다 하고
웃사라 이름하는 이스라엘 사람이 “손을 들어 하나님의 궤를 붙들었”으므로 (삼하 6:6) 목숨을 잃었습니다. 그는 “소들이 뛰므로” 흔들림을 방지하려는 좋은 의도로 궤에 손을 얹었지만, 하나님의 일에 손대는 행위는 분수를 넘는 것이었습니다. 그러므로 여호와 하나님이 그를 치셨습니다(삼하 6:7). 믿음의 삶이 접근금지를 요청할 때가 종종 있습니다.
어떤 것을 하나님께 온전히 맡겼다면 우리는 거기서 손을 떼야 합니다. 그분께서 그것을 우리보다 잘 지키실 뿐 아니라, 그분께는 우리의 도움 또한 필요하지 않습니다. “여호와 앞에 잠잠하고 참고 기다리라. 자기 길이 형통하며 악한 꾀를 이루는 자 때문에 불평하지 말지어다” (시 37:7). 우리 삶이 전혀 순조롭지 않은 듯 보일 수 있지만 하나님께서 우리보다 상황을 더 잘 아십니다. 그분께서 그분의 때에 그분의 방식으로 일하심을 우리가 온전히 믿는다면, 역시 그분께서는 완벽한 시기에 일하실 것입니다. 하나님께서 그분의 주권적인 의지를 행사하시겠다고 약속하셨으니, 그렇게 하실 때에는 우리가 손 놓고 쉬는 것이 오히려 그분께는 신실함이며, 부산스럽게 일해 봐야 해롭기만 할 뿐입니다.
나 어찌할 바를 몰라서 말하네.
“주여, 올바르게 해주소서!
당신께 밤은 낮 같고
어둠은 빛 같으니, 돌리소서. ,
너무 얽혀 버린 이 삶
손대기 두렵습니다.
내 떨리는 손이 그르치고
내 투박한 손이 망칠까 하지만
당신의 손은 실수가 없습니다."
나 의심에 빠져 말하네.
“주여, 분명하게 해주소서,
어느 길이 참되고 안전하며,
어느 것이 얻음입니까?
나 지혜롭지 못하고
내딛는 발걸음 확신 없지만
당신께는 그토록 분명한 것,
주여, 내게 밝히소서!”
복잡하게 얽힌 이 삶, 하나님의 손에 던져 맡길 수 있음은 크나큰 위안입니다.

Keep Your Hands Off
Neither know we what to do; but our eyes are, upon thee — 2 Chr 20:12
A life was lost in Israel because a pair of human hands were laid unbidden upon the ark of God. They were placed upon it with the best intent, to steady it when trembling and shaking as the oxen drew it along the rough way; but they touched God’s work presumptuously, and they fell paralyzed and lifeless. Much of the life of faith consists in letting things alone.
If we wholly trust an interest to God, we must keep our hands off it; and He will guard it for us better than we can help Him. “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Things may seem to be going all wrong, but He knows as well as we; and He will arise in the right moment if we are really trusting Him so fully as to let Him work in His own way and time. There is nothing so masterly as inactivity in some things, and there is nothing so hurtful as restless working, for God has undertaken to work His sovereign will. — A. B. Simpson
“Being perplexed, I say,
’Lord, make it right!

Things that involve so much;
My trembling hand may shake,
My skilless hand may break;
Thine can make no mistake.’
“Being in doubt I say,
’Lord, make it plain;
Which is the true, safe way?
Which would be gain?
I am not wise to know,
Nor sure of foot to go;
What is so clear to Thee,
Lord, make it clear to me!’”
It is such a comfort to drop the tangles of life into God’s hands and leave them there.
