9월 3일 마가복음 6:48 바람이 거스르므로 제자들이 힘겹게 노 젓는 것을 보시고 밤 사경쯤에 바다 위로 걸어서 그들에게 오사 지나가려고 하시매
쉬지 않고 일한다고 하나님께서 맡기신 일을 성취하는 것은 아닙니다. 언제나 긴장과 피로 없이, 결코 과로하는 법 없이 일하시는 하나님께서만 자녀들에게 주신 그 일을 하실 수 있습니다. 우리가 평화로이 그분 의지하며 맡기면, 그 일은 성취될 것입니다. 우리를 통해 그 일 하시도록 하는 길은, 믿음으로 그리스도 안에 거하되 온전히 거하며 그분의 채우심으로 넘쳐흐르도록 하는 것입니다.
이 비밀을 체험한 어떤 사람이 이렇게 말했습니다. “나는 예수께 와서 마셨고, 다시는 목마르지 않을 것을 믿습니다. 내 인생의 좌우명은 넘치게 일하지 말고 넘쳐흐르라는 것'입니다. 이로써 내 인생은 이미 달라졌습니다.”
넘쳐흐르는 삶에 과도한 노력은 필요하지 않으니, 이러한 삶은 뭔가 모르게 불가항력적으로 오는 것입니다. 이 삶은 그리스도 안에서 전능하시고 중단 없으신 성취로 인한 정상적인 삶이며, 그분께서는 바로 이러한 삶으로 오늘이나 내일이나 동일하게 우리 모두를 불러 초대하십니다.
쉬어라, 내 영혼아, 주님 영화롭게 하는
참된 삶의 지극한 비밀 여기 있으니,
언제나 분주한 영혼만 그분 섬김에 으뜸은 아니며,
그분의 신실한 말씀에 의지하는 자가 오히려 귀하다.
쉬어라, 네 영혼 요동치게 하지 말라,
잔물결에도 아름다운 모습 훼손될까 하니,
고요한 물 위에 비치는 하늘의 영광스러운 모습,
그러므로 그분께서 네 안에 심으실 그 모습.
쉬어라, 내 영혼아, 쉼이 섬김이니,
잠잠한 영혼에 하나님께서 당신의 비밀 말씀하신다.
그러므로 너 기다리고 바라보며 일하는 법 배워
견딜 만큼 강건해지리라, 그리스도 네 안에 거하심에. 예수의 삶 아니면 섬김의 목적 무엇인가,
세상의 약한 질그릇으로 살며
다른 이들 사랑하고, 주고, 쏟아붓는
나날이 산 희생 아니면.
쉬어라, 그리하면 네가 답이 되리니..
"하나님이 누구며 어디 있느냐?" 묻는 자들에게..
하나님은 안식이시며, 그분 거하는 곳에 고요 있으니,
그분 안에 거하는 자들 그분의 안식 나누리라.
네 곁의 깊은 불안, 그분의 가슴에서 넘치는
하나님의 평화 아니면 무엇을 만나야 하겠느냐?
그분의 살아계신 고요한 음성, 지친 자들 부르시고,
그분 말씀하신다. "내게로 와서 쉬어라."

Walk Without Strain
And he saw them toiling in rowing — Mark 6:48
Straining, driving effort does not accomplish the work God gives man to do. Only God Himself, who always works without strain, and who never overworks, can do the work that He assigns to His children. When they restfully trust Him to do it, it will be well done and completely done. The way to let Him do His work through us is to partake of Christ so fully, by faith, that He more than fills our life.
A man who had learned this secret once said: “I came to Jesus and I drank, and I do not think that I shall ever be thirsty again. I have taken for my motto, ’Not overwork, but overflow’; and already it has made all the difference in my life.”
There is no effort in overflow. It is quietly irresistible. It is the normal life of omnipotent and ceaseless accomplishment into which Christ invites us today and always. — Sunday School Times
Be all at rest, my soul, O blessed secret,
Of the true life that glorifies thy Lord:

And what shall meet the deep unrest around thee,
But the calm peace of God that filled His breast?

From Him who said, “Come unto Me and rest.”
