10월 14일 사도행전 12:7 홀연히 주의 사자가 나타나매 옥중에 광채가 빛나며 또 베드로의 옆구리를 쳐 깨워 이르되 급히 일어나라 하니 쇠사슬이 그 손에서 벗어지더라
사도행전 16:25-26 한밤중에 바울과 실라가 기도하고 하나님을 찬송하매 죄수들이 듣더라 이에 갑자기 큰 지진이 나서 옥터가 움직이고 문이 곧 다 열리며 모든 사람의 매인 것이 다 벗어진지라
하나님께서 이렇게 일하십니다. 우리의 삶 캄캄하게 어두울 때 하나님께서 파도를 넘어 우리에게 오십니다. 베드로의 경우도 그러해서, 처형일 새벽에 감방으로 천사가 왔습니다. 그리고 모르드개를 달아 죽이기 위해 처형대가 세워졌을 때도, 왕의 불면으로 인해 결국 하나님께서 사랑하시는 민족에게 호의적인 조치가 내려졌습니다(에 6장 참조).
사랑하는 영혼들이여, 최악의 상황까지 가겠지만 구원받을 것입니다. 하나님께서 여러분을 기다리게 하시겠지만, 언제나 그분께서는 당신의 약속 잊지 않으시고 기한 내에 나타나셔서 파기될 수 없는 거룩한 말씀을 이루실 것입니다.
하나님께서 계획을 실행해 나가시는 방식은 단순하지만, 그분께는 어떠한 어려움이라도 극복할 만한 자원이 넘칩니다. 믿는 자녀들을 향한 그분의 신실하심은 흔들림이 없고, 정하신 목적을 고수하심에는 양보 또한 없으십니다. 요셉의 삶에서 우리는 이 점을 확인할 수 있습니다. 하나님께서는 요셉의 동료 죄수를 통해, 그 후에는 그의 꿈을 통해 일하셨으며 마지막에는 그를 감옥에서 통치자의 자리로 들어 올려 일하셨습니다. 요셉은 그 장기간의 투옥으로 인해 통치자로서 필요한 능력과 견실함을 얻게 되었습니다.
언제나 하나님의 방법을 신뢰하고 그분의 시간표에 따라 살아야 합니다.
우리의 상황이 아무리 절망스럽더라도 하나님의 섭리에는 그분 자녀들을 구해 내시기 위해 수많은 문들을 여는 무수한 열쇠가 있습니다. 그러니 우리는 우리의 본분에 충실하여 그분을 위해 고난 받고, 그리스도께서 하실 일은 그분께 돌려드려야겠습니다.
어려움은 사실 기적의 징후 혹은 이제 막 기적이 시작될 것 같은 분위기입니다. 하지만 위대한 기적이 일어날 때는, 주변 조건이 그냥 어려운 정도가 아니라 불가능에 가깝도록 어려울 것입니다. 그리고 절망적인 상황을 하나님의 기쁨으로 바꾸는 것은 그분을 붙들고 늘어지는 자녀의 손입니다.

Desperate Situations
The angel of the Lord came upon him [Peter] and a light shined in the prison; and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off — Acts 12:7
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God.... And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and every one's bands were loosed — Acts 16:25-26
This is God’s way. In the darkest hours of the night, His tread draws near across the billows. As the day of execution is breaking, the angel comes to Peter’s cell. When the scaffold for Mordecai is complete, the royal sleeplessness leads to a reaction in favor of the favored race.
Ah, soul, it may have to come to the worst with thee ere thou art delivered; but thou wilt be delivered! God may keep thee waiting, but he will ever be mindful of His covenant, and will appear to fulfill His inviolable Word. — F. B. Meyer
There’s a simplicity about God in working out His plans, yet a resourcefulness equal to any difficulty, and an unswerving faithfulness to His trusting child, and an unforgetting steadiness in holding to His purpose. Through a fellow-prisoner, then a dream, He lifts Joseph from a prison to a premiership. And the length of stay in the prison prevents dizziness in the premier.
