1항. 침례와 주의 만찬은 유일한 법제정자이신(마 28:19-20, 고전 11:24-25) 주 예수께서 제정하셔서 그의 교회에게 세상 끝까지 계속하라고 주신 적극적이면서 주권적인 제도적 의식들이다.(마 28:18-20, 롬 6:3-4, 고전 1:13-17, 갈 3:27, 엡 4:5, 골 2:12, 벧전 3:21, 고전 11:26, 눅 22:14-20) 
마28:19-20
19. 그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고
20. 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라

19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,* baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

고전11:26 너희가 이 떡을 먹으며 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주의 죽으심을 그가 오실 때까지 전하는 것이니라
26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.


​2항. 이 거룩한 의식들은 그리스도의 명령에 따라서 집행되어야 하며, 자격이 있고 그 일에 부르심을 받은 사람들에 의해서 집행되어야 한다. (마 24:45-51, 눅 12:41-44, 고전 4:1, 딛 1:5-7)

고전4:1 사람이 마땅히 우리를 그리스도의 일꾼이요 하나님의 비밀을 맡은 자로 여길지어다
So look at Apollos and me as mere servants of Christ who have been put in charge of explaining God’s mysteries.


1항. 침례는 예수그리스도께서 제정하신 신약 성서의 의식이다. 침례는 침례받는 당사자에게는 첫째로, 그리스도의 죽으심과 부활에 참여함으로 그리스도와 연합되는 표식이며(롬 6:3-5, 골 2:12, 갈 3:27) 둘째로, 죄들이 사함 받는 표식이며(막 1:4, 행 22:16) 셋째로, 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님께 자신을 의탁하여 새생명으로 살고 행한다는 표식이 된다.(롬 6:4)

3. 무릇 그리스도 예수와 합하여 세례를 받은 우리는 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받은 줄을 알지 못하느냐
4. 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이라
5. 만일 우리가 그의 죽으심과 같은 모양으로 연합한 자가 되었으면 또한 그의 부활과 같은 모양으로 연합한 자도 되리라

3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.

골2:12 너희가 세례로 그리스도와 함께 장사되고 또 죽은 자들 가운데서 그를 일으키신 하나님의 역사를 믿음으로 말미암아 그 안에서 함께 일으키심을 받았느니라

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

갈3:27 누구든지 그리스도와 합하기 위하여 세례를 받은 자는 그리스도로 옷 입었느니라

 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.

막1:4 세례 요한이 광야에 이르러 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니

This messenger was John the Baptist. He was in the wilderness and preached that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven.

행22:16 이제는 왜 주저하느냐 일어나 주의 이름을 불러 세례를 받고 너의 죄를 씻으라 하더라

What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’

롬6:4 그러므로 우리가 그의 죽으심과 합하여 세례를 받음으로 그와 함께 장사되었나니 이는 아버지의 영광으로 말미암아 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리심과 같이 우리로 또한 새 생명 가운데서 행하게 하려 함이라

Baptism is an ordinance of the New Testament, ordained by Jesus Christ, to be unto the party baptized, a sign of his fellowship with him, in his death and resurrection; of his being engrafted into him;1 of remission of sins;2 and of giving up into God, through Jesus Christ, to live and walk in newness of life.3

Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper 
1. 세례와 주의 만찬은 법을 제정하신 주 예수께서 세우신 규례(ordinances)로서 세상 끝날까지 지속된다.[1]

(1) 마 28:19-20; 고전 11:26. 



2. 이 거룩한 규례는 오직 자격을 갖춘 자, 즉 부르심을 받고 그리스도께 위힘을 받은 자들에 의해 행해진다.[2]

Of Baptism 
1. 세례는 예수 그리스도께서 제정하신 신약 규례다. 세례 받는 자는 세례를 통해 자신이 그리스도의 죽으심과 부활에 참여하고, 그리스도와 교통하며, 그리스도께 접붙인 바 된 것을 보여주고,[1] 죄사함 받고[2] 이제부터 하나님께 헌신된 자로서 새 생명에의 삶을 살겠다는 표시를 나타낸다.[3]
