내 영혼의 영원하신 하나님,
오늘 저의 첫 생각이 당신이게 하시고,
오늘 저의 첫 열망이 당신을 향한 예배이게 하시고,
오늘 저의 첫 말이 당신의 이름이게 하시고,
오늘 저의 첫 행동이 당신 앞에 무릎 꿇는 기도이게 하소서.
당신의 완전한 지혜와 선하심으로 인해,
인류를 향한 당신의 사랑으로 인해,
저를 향한 당신의 사랑으로 인해,
제 삶에 허락하신 위대하고 신비로운 기회로 인해,
제 맘에 임재하신 성령님으로 인해,
당신의 영이 부어주시는 칠 배의 은사로 인하여,
오 주님, 당신을 찬양하고 경배합니다.
이 아침 기도하는 이것으로 오늘의 제 예배가 끝난 것으로 생각지 않게 하시고,
당신을 잊어버린 채 이 날을 보내지 않게 하옵소서.
오히려 이 침묵의 순간부터 하루 온종일 시간 시간마다
빛과 기쁨 그리고 권능이 제 안에서 흘러 나가게 하소서.
그리하여 제 생각을 정결케 하시고,
말에서는 절제와 진실을,
일에서는 충성과 성실함을 다하게 하소서.
저 자신을 평가할 때는 늘 겸허함으로,
이웃을 대할 때는 존경과 너그러움으로 대하게 하시고,
과거에 관한 모든 신성한 기억들을 잘 간직하게 하시며,
당신의 자녀 된 제 영원한 운명에 마음을 기울이게 하소서.
많은 세대 동안 제 선조들의 피난처가 되어주신 오 하나님,
오늘도 곤란할 때면 언제든 또 어떤 환경에서든 저의 피난처가 되어 주옵소서.
캄캄한 의심의 터널을 지날 때 저를 인도하시고,
제 영혼의 평강을 위협하는 모든 것들에서 저를 지켜 주옵소서.
시험 받을 때에 저를 능하게 하여 주시고,
주님의 평화로 제 마음이 늘 기쁘게 하옵소서.
예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
Eternal Father of my soul, let my first thought today be of You, let my first impulse be to worship You, let my first speech be Your name, let my first action be to kneel before You in prayer.
For Your perfect wisdom and perfect goodness
For the love that You love mankind with
For the love that You love me with
For the great and mysterious opportunity of my life
For the indwelling of Your Spirit in my heart
For the sevenfold gifts of Your Spirit
I praise and worship You, Lord.
Yet let me not, when this morning prayer is said, think my worship ended and spend the day forgetting You. Rather from these moments of quietness let light go forth, and joy, and power, that will remain with me through all the hours of the day;
Keeping me pure in thought
Keeping me restrained and truthful in speech
Keeping me faithful and diligent in my work
Keeping me humble in my estimation of myself
Keeping me honorable and generous in my dealings with others
Keeping me loyal to every holy memory of the past
Keeping me mindful of my eternal destiny as Your child
God, who has been the Refuge of my fathers through many generations, be my Refuge today in every time and circumstance of need. Be my Guide through all that is dark and doubtful. Be my Guard against all that threatens my spirit's welfare. Be my Strength in time of testing. Gladden my heart with Your peace; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
