은혜로우신 하나님,
이 하루의 삶 내내 나의 주 예수 그리스도의 고난과 죽음을 기억하게 하소서.
당신의 사랑하는 아들 예수 그리스도 안에서 보여주신 아버지의 사랑과 우리를 위해 기꺼이 고난을 당하신 예수님과 예수님의 마음에 충만하신 구속의 열정을 인하여 주님의 거룩하신 이름을 찬양하고 경배합니다.
예수께서 오신 후 세상 역사 속에 드러난 그리스도의 십자가 권능과 자기 십자가를 지고 그리스도를 따른 모든 이들과 거룩한 순교자들과 타인을 살리려고 기꺼이 자기 목숨을 내놓은 모든 이들과 고귀한 목표를 위해 스스로 선택한 모든 고난과 용기 있게 인내한 모든 아픔과 영원한 기쁨을 쌓는 데 사용된 오늘의 눈물들로 인하여 주님의 거룩하신 이름을 찬양하고 경배합니다.
죽을 수밖에 없는 인간의 고통 너머
순전하고 복된 평온 가운데 거하시면서
말로 다 할 수 없는 사랑과 따스함으로 이 땅의 눈물을 내려다보시는
오 주 나의 하나님, 주께 간구하오니 제가 참아야 했던 그런 고난과 절망의 의미를 이해할 수 있도록 은총을 베풀어 주옵소서.
저를 모든 성마른 불평에서 건져 주옵소서.
제가 주님의 모든 섭리에서 주님이 제게 가르치시려고 하는 교훈을 잘 이끌어낼 만큼 지혜롭게 하옵소서.

제 자신의 짐을 질 만큼의 굳센 마음과 기꺼이 타인의 짐을 질 수 있는 마음과 제 모든 짐을 주님께 맡길 수 있는 믿음을 허락하여 주옵소서.

오 그리스도시여, 영광이 당신께 있습니다.

For Your fatherly love shown forth in Jesus Christ Your well-beloved Son
For His readiness to suffer for our sakes
For the redemptive passion that filled his heart
I praise and bless Your holy name.
For the power of His Cross in the history of the world since He came
For all who have taken up their own crosses and have followed Him
For the noble army of martyrs and for all who are willing to die that others may live
For all suffering freely chosen for noble ends, for pain bravely endured, for temporal sorrows that have been used for the building up of eternal joys
I praise and bless Your holy name.
Lord my God, who dwells in pure and blessed serenity beyond the reach of mortal pain, yet looked down in unspeakable love and tenderness upon the sorrows of earth, give me grace, I ask You, to understand the meaning of such afflictions and disappointments as I myself am called upon to endure. Deliver me from all fretfulness. Let me be wise to draw from every dispensation of Your providence the lesson You are minded to teach me. Give me a stout heart to bear my own burdens. Give me a willing heart to bear the burdens of others. Give me a believing heart to cast all burdens upon You.
Glory be to You, Father, and to You, O Christ, and to You, O Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
