제게 이 하루를 선물로 주신 주님,
간구하오니 제가 꼭 써야 할 때 사용할 수 있는 정신을 주옵소서.
악한 생각으로 이 아침의 광채를 더럽히거나 부끄러운 행실로 정오의 광명을 어둡게 하지 않도록 도와주옵소서.
오늘 주님의 성령이 제 마음에 순전하고 신령한 갈망을 불어넣어 주옵소서.
주님의 진리로 제 지성을 가르치소서.
주님의 의와 정의가 제 마음 보좌에 앉아 흠이 많은 제 의지를 다스리게 하옵소서.
제 마음이 그리스도의 마음이 되어, 제가 그리스도의 낮은 마음과 온유한 인내와 겸손한 말과 유익한 활동과 아버지의 뜻을 행하는 데 지체치 않는 삶을 배우게 하옵소서.
온 땅을 주님의 자비로 두르시고 주님의 자녀들은 한 사람도 멸망하지 않게 하시는 주님, 오늘 더 나은 세상을 위해 분투하는 이들에게 주님의 은총이 임하기를 기도합니다.
오 하나님,
담대하게 진리를 사수하는 모든 이들을 위해,
더 순전하고 정의로운 법이 되도록 애쓰는 모든 이들을 위해,
질병을 치료하는 일에 종사하는 모든 이들을 위해,
가난을 구제하는 데 종사하는 모든 이들을 위해,
쓰러진 이들을 구조하는데 종사하는 모든 이들을 위해,
분열된 주님이 거룩한 교회를 회복시키기 위해 애쓰는 모든 이들을 위해,
복음을 전하는 모든 이들을 위해,
낯선 땅에서 그리스도를 증거하는 모든 이들을 위해,
의를 위하여 고난을 당하는 모든 이들을 위해,
특별히 이 시간 기도 드립니다.
오 주님,
잔인하고 그릇된 이들의 모든 무기들을 내던져 버리옵소서.
이기적이고 세상적인 계략들을 무너뜨리시고 우리 안에 그리스도의 마음을 세우시고 그리스도의 복된 이름의 영광을 위하여 실행하는 모든 일들은 열매를 맺게 하옵소서. 아멘.
You to whom I owe the gift of this day's life, give also, I ask You, the spirit to use it as I should. Forbid that I should stain the brightness of the morning with any evil thought or darken the afternoon with any shameful deed. Let Your Holy Spirit breathe into my heart today all pure and heavenly desires. Let Your truth inform my mind. Let Your justice and righteousness make a throne within me and rule my misbehaving will. Let Christ be formed in me, and let me learn of Him all humility of heart, all gentleness of behavior, all modesty of speech, all helpfulness of action, and promptness in the doing of my Father's will.
You who surround the whole earth with Your most merciful favors and desires that none of Your children should perish, I would call down Your blessing today upon all who are striving towards the making of a better world. I pray, God, especially:
for all who are valiant for truth
for all who are working for purer and juster laws
for all who are working for peace between the nations
for all who are engaged in healing disease
for all who are engaged in the relief of poverty
for all who are engaged in the rescue of the fallen
for all who are working towards the restoration of the broken unity of Your Holy Church
for all who preach the gospel
for all who bear witness to Christ in foreign lands
for all who suffer for the sake of righteousness.
Cast down, Lord, all the forces of cruelty and wrong. Defeat all selfish and worldly-minded schemes, and prosper all that is conceived among us in the spirit of Christ and carried out to the honor of His blessed name. Amen.
