8월 9일 스펄전 아침묵상 “그 성은 해나 달의 비췸이 쓸데없으니” [요한계시록 21장 23절]

August 9

"The city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it" (Revelation 21: 23).

In the better world, the inhabitants are independent of all creature comforts.  They have no need of raiment.  Their white robes never wear out, and they will never be defiled.  They need no medicine to heal diseases.  They need no sleep to refresh themselves.  They rest not day or night but untiringly praise Him in His temple.  They need no social relationship to minister comfort.  Whatever happiness they may drive from association with their fellows is not essential to their bliss, for their Lord's society is enough for their largest desires.  They need no teachers there.  They doubtless commune with one another concerning the things of God, but they will all be taught of the Lord.  Ours are the alms at the king's gate, but they feast at the table itself.  Here we lean on the friendly arm, but there they lean on their Beloved.  Here we must have the help of our companions, but there they find all they want in Christ Jesus.  Here the angels bring us blessings, but we will not need messengers from heaven then.  We will not need Gabriels there to bring love-notes from God, for there we will see Him face to face.  What a glorious hour when God and not His creatures--when the Lord and not His works--will be our daily joy!  Our souls will then have attained the perfection of bliss.

제목 : 영광의 비췸

요절 : "그 성은 해나 달의 비췸이 쓸데없으니 이는 하나님의 영광이 비취고 어린 양이 그 등이 되심이라"(계21:23)

여기보다 더 나은 세상(천국)에서는 그 주민(거주자)들이 어떤 피조물의 위로를 받을 필요가 없습니다. 그들은 의복(옷)도 갖을 필요가 없습니다. 주님께서 입혀주신 흰옷은 결코 낡아지거나 더럽혀지지 않을 것입니다. 그리고 그들은 병을 고칠 약도 필요없습니다. 그들은 그들 자신이 새 힘을 얻기 위하여 잠을 잘 필요도 없습니다. 그들은 밤이나 낮이나 쉬지 않고 주님의 성전에서 지침없이 주님을 찬양합니다.

그들은 위로의 사역을 위한 사회적 관계를 필요로 하지 않습니다. 즉 그들은 그들의 동료와의 사교에서 그 어떤 행복을 얻을지라도 그들의 지복(행복)에는 그리 중요하지 않습니다. 왜냐하면 그들의 주님의 세계는 그들의 모든 소망을 다 이루어 주시기에 족하기 때문입니다. 그들은 그곳에서는 교사도 필요하지 않습니다. 물론 그들은 하나님의 일에 관하여 서로 친교를 나눕니다. 그러나 그들은 모든 것을 주님으로부터 직접 배울 것입니다.

여기 우리의 것은 왕의 문전에서 얻는 동냥(시물)이지만, 하늘의 성도들은 왕의 그 식탁에서 잔치상을 먹습니다. 여기서 우리는 이 세상의 친절한 팔에 의지하지만, 천국에서는 성도들은 그들의 사랑하는 자이신 주님께 의지합니다. 여기서는 우리는 동료들의 도움을 받아야 하지만 그들(하늘의 성도들)은 저기에서(천국에서) 그들이 원하는 모든 것을 그리스도 예수 안에서 받습니다. 여기서는 천사들이 우리에게 축복을 가져오지만, 그때엔 우리는 천국으로부터 오는 사자들이 필요없을 것입니다. 거기에서는 우리는 하나님으로부터 사랑의 소식(편지)들을 가져올 가브리엘 천사가 필요없습니다.(역자주1)  왜냐하면 거기에서는 우리는 얼굴과 얼굴을 맞대어 하나님을 뵐 것이기 때문입니다. 그의 피조물이 아닌 하나님께서 친히, 또 주님의 사역이 아닌 주님 자신이 날마다 우리의 기쁨이 되어 주실 때에는 얼마나 영광스러운 시간이겠습니까!  그 때가 되면 우리의 영혼들은 완전한 행복을 얻을 것입니다.
