"Be ye separate" (2 Corinthians 6: 17).
The Christian, while in the world, is not to be of the world. To him, to live, should be Christ. Whether he eats or drinks or whatever he does, he should do all to God's glory. You may lay up treasure, but lay it up in heaven where neither moth nor rust corrupts or where thieves cannot break through or steal. You may strive to be rich, but let it be your ambition to be rich in faith and good works. You may have pleasure; but when you are merry, sing psalms and make melody in your heart to the Lord. In your spirit, as well as in your alm, you should differ from the world. Waiting humbly before God, always conscious of His presence, delighting in communion with Him, and seeking to know His will, you will prove that you are of the heavenly race. And you should be separate from the world in your actions. If a thing is right, though you lose by it, it must be done. If it is wrong, though you would gain by it, you must scorn the sin for your Master's sake. You must have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Walk worthy of your high calling and dignity. Do not let those eyes, which are soon to see the King in His beauty, become the windows of lust. Do not let those hearts, which are before long to be filled with heaven and to overflow with ecstatic joy, be filled with pride and bitterness.

제목 : 따로 있으라
요절 : "그러므로 주께서 말씀하시기를 너희는 저희 중에서 나와서 따로 있고 부정한 것을 만지지 말라"(고후6:17)
그리스도인은 이세상에 사는 동안 이 세상에 속하지 않습니다. 그리스도인에게 사는 것은 그리스도여야 합니다. 즉 먹든지 마시든지, 무엇을 하든지 그리스도인은 모두 하나님의 영광을 위하여 행해야 합니다. 보물을 쌓되 좀도 동록도 해하지 못하고 도둑들이 구멍을 뚫거나 도적질 할 수 없는 하늘에 쌓아야 합니다.(역자주1)
그대들은 부자가 되기를 노력하되, 믿음과 선행의 부자가 되기를 바라십시요. 또 그대들은 즐거움을 갖되, 기쁠 때는 주님을 위하여 찬송시를 노래하고 마음에서 우러나는 멜로디를 만드십시요.(역자주2)
그대들은 인생의 목표는 물론 심령에 있어서도 세상사람과는 달라야 합니다. 하나님 앞에서 겸손히 기다리며, 항상 그의 임재를 의식하며, 하나님의 친교를 기뻐하며, 그의 뜻을 알기를 구하는 삶을 삶으로서 그대는 천국에 속한 천국 백성임을 증거해야 합니다.
그러므로 그대는 행동(생활)에 있어서 세상사람들과 구별되어야 합니다.(따로 살아야 합니다).(역자주3) 옳은 일이라면 그대는 손해가 될 지라도 그 일을 행해야 합니다.(역자주4)
만약 그대에게 비록 이익이 될지라도 옳지 못한 일이면 주님을 위하여 그 죄를 멸시해야 합니다. 그대는 열매없는 어둠의 일과 관계를 갖지 말아야 합니다. 오히려 그런 일들을 책망해야 합니다. 그대의 고귀한 소명과 위엄에 알 맞는 길을 걸으십시요. 머지 않아 아름다우신 왕을 뵙게 될 그 눈들로 정욕의 창들이 되지 않게 하십시요. 머지 않아 하늘로 채워지고 황홀한 기쁨으로 넘칠 그 마음속에 교만과 비통으로 채우지 마십시요.
