1Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied: |
1וַיַּעַן אֱלִיפַז הַתֵּמָנִי וַיֹּאמַר׃ |
|
2'Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise man benefit him? |
2הַלְאֵל יִסְכָּן־גָּבֶר כִּי־יִסְכֹּן עָלֵימֹו מַשְׂכִּיל׃ |
|
3What pleasure would it give the Almighty if you were righteous? What would he gain if your ways were blameless? |
3הַחֵפֶץ לְשַׁדַּי כִּי תִצְדָּק וְאִם־בֶּצַע כִּי־תַתֵּם דְּרָכֶיךָ׃ |
|
4'Is it for your piety that he rebukes you and brings charges against you? |
4הֲמִיִּרְאָתְךָ יֹכִיחֶךָ יָבֹוא עִמְּךָ בַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃ |
|
5Is not your wickedness great? Are not your sins endless? |
5הֲלֹא רָעָתְךָ רַבָּה וְאֵין־קֵץ לַעֲוֹנֹתֶיךָ׃ |
|
6You demanded security from your brothers for no reason; you stripped men of their clothing, leaving them naked. |
6כִּי־תַחְבֹּל אַחֶיךָ חִנָּם וּבִגְדֵי עֲרוּמִּים תַּפְשִׁיט׃ |
|
7You gave no water to the weary and you withheld food from the hungry, |
7לֹא־מַיִם עָיֵף תַּשְׁקֶה וּמֵרָעֵב תִּמְנַע־לָחֶם׃ |
|
8though you were a powerful man, owning land-an honored man, living on it. |
8וְאִישׁ זְרֹועַ לֹו הָאָרֶץ וּנְשׂוּא פָנִים יֵשֶׁב בָּהּ׃ |
|
9And you sent widows away empty-handed and broke the strength of the fatherless. |
9אַלְמָנֹות שִׁלַּחְתָּ רֵיקָם וּזְרֹעֹות יְתֹמִים יְדֻכָּא׃ |
|
10That is why snares are all around you, why sudden peril terrifies you, |
10עַל־כֵּן סְבִיבֹותֶיךָ פַחִים וִיבַהֶלְךָ פַּחַד פִּתְאֹם׃ |
|
11why it is so dark you cannot see, and why a flood of water covers you. |
11אֹו־חֹשֶׁךְ לֹא־תִרְאֶה וְשִׁפְעַת־מַיִם תְּכַסֶּךָּ׃ |
|
12'Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars! |
12הֲלֹא־אֱלֹוהַּ גֹּבַהּ שָׁמָיִם וּרְאֵה רֹאשׁ* כֹּוכָבִים כִּי־רָמּוּ׃ |
|
13Yet you say, 'What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness? |
13וְאָמַרְתָּ מַה־יָּדַע אֵל הַבְעַד עֲרָפֶל יִשְׁפֹּוט׃ |
|
14Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.' |
14עָבִים סֵתֶר־לֹו וְלֹא יִרְאֶה וְחוּג שָׁמַיִם יִתְהַלָּךְ׃ |
|
15Will you keep to the old path that evil men have trod? |
15הַאֹרַח עֹולָם תִּשְׁמֹר אֲשֶׁר דָּרְכוּ מְתֵי־אָוֶן׃ |
|
16They were carried off before their time, their foundations washed away by a flood. |
16אֲשֶׁר־קֻמְּטוּ וְלֹא־עֵת נָהָר יוּצַק יְסֹודָם׃ |
|
17They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?' |
17הָאֹמְרִים לָאֵל סוּר מִמֶּנּוּ וּמַה־יִּפְעַל שַׁדַּי לָמֹו׃ |
|
18Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked. |
18וְהוּא מִלֵּא בָתֵּיהֶם טֹוב וַעֲצַת רְשָׁעִים רָחֲקָה מֶנִּי׃ |
|
19'The righteous see their ruin and rejoice; the innocent mock them, saying, |
19יִרְאוּ צַדִּיקִים וְיִשְׂמָחוּ וְנָקִי יִלְעַג־לָמֹו׃ |
|
20'Surely our foes are destroyed, and fire devours their wealth.' |
20אִם־לֹא נִכְחַד קִימָנוּ וְיִתְרָם אָכְלָה אֵשׁ׃ |
|
21'Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. |
21הַסְכֶּן־נָא עִמֹּו וּשְׁלָם בָּהֶם תְּבֹואַתְכָ* טֹובָה׃ |
|
22Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart. |
22קַח־נָא מִפִּיו תֹּורָה וְשִׂים אֲמָרָיו בִּלְבָבֶךָ׃ |
|
23If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent |
23אִם־תָּשׁוּב עַד־שַׁדַּי תִּבָּנֶה תַּרְחִיק עַוְלָה מֵאָהֳלֶךָ׃ |
|
24and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines, |
24וְשִׁית־עַל־עָפָר בָּצֶר וּבְצוּר נְחָלִים אֹופִיר׃ |
|
25then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you. |
25וְהָיָה שַׁדַּי בְּצָרֶיךָ וְכֶסֶף תֹּועָפֹות לָךְ׃ |
|
26Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God. |
26כִּי־אָז עַל־שַׁדַּי תִּתְעַנָּג וְתִשָּׂא אֶל־אֱלֹוהַּ פָּנֶיךָ׃ |
|
27You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows. |
27תַּעְתִּיר אֵלָיו וְיִשְׁמָעֶךָּ וּנְדָרֶיךָ תְשַׁלֵּם׃ |
|
28What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways. |
28וְתִגְזַר־אֹומֶר וְיָקָם לָךְ וְעַל־דְּרָכֶיךָ נָגַהּ אֹור׃ |
|
29When men are brought low and you say, 'Lift them up!' then he will save the downcast. |
29כִּי־הִשְׁפִּילוּ וַתֹּאמֶר גֵּוָה וְשַׁח עֵינַיִם יֹושִׁעַ׃ |
|
30He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.' |
30יְמַלֵּט אִי־נָקִי וְנִמְלַט בְּבֹר כַּפֶּיךָ׃ ף |
1데만 사람 엘리바스가 대답하였습니다.
2"사람이 하나님께 무슨 유익이 된다는 말인가? 지혜로운 사람이라면 그분께 도움이 된다는 것인가?
3자네의 의로움이 전능자에게 무슨 기쁨이 될까? 자네의 행실이 올바르다 한들 그분께 유익할까?
4자네가 경건하기 때문에 그분이 책망하시며, 자네를 심판하시겠는가?
5자네의 악이 얼마나 크고, 자네 죄가 얼마나 많은지 아는가?
6형제의 물건을 까닭 없이 저당잡고, 사람들의 옷을 빼앗아 벌거벗게 하지 않았나?
7목마른 자에게 물을 주었나? 배고픈 자에게 음식을 주었나?
8그러면서 권세나 부리려 하고, 귀한 체하며 살지 않았나?
9과부를 빈손으로 쫓아 보내고, 고아들을 멸시하지 않았는가?
10그러니 자네가 덫에 빠지고 공포에 휩싸이지.
11어둠에 둘러싸여 캄캄해지고, 홍수에 덮인 이유가 무엇이겠나?
12하나님께서 높은 하늘에 계시지 않는가? 저 하늘의 별들이 얼마나 높은지 아는가?
13자네는 말하길, '하나님께서 무엇을 아실까? 어둠이 덮였는데 그분이 판단하실 수 있을까?
14구름이 그분을 가리우기 때문에 그가 보실 수 없고, 그저 궁창을 지나다니실 뿐이지' 라고 하는구나.
15자네도 악인들이 걷던 그 옛길을 걷고자 하는가?
16그들은 때가 되기 전에 망했고, 강물이 그 기초까지 씻어 버리지 않았던가?
17그 악인들은 하나님께 '우리를 내버려 두시오. 전능자가 우리에게 무엇을 할 수 있겠소?'라고 했다네.
18하나님은 저들의 집에 보물을 채우셨건만, 저들의 생각은 하나님과 상관이 없었지.
19의인은 악인의 멸망을 보며 기뻐하고 죄 없는 자들은 악인을 조롱하며 말하네.
20'정말로 우리의 원수가 망했군. 악인들의 재물이 불타고 말았군.'
21이제 하나님께 굴복하고 화해하게나. 그러면 좋은 일이 기다릴 걸세.
22그분의 교훈을 듣고, 자네 마음에 새겨 두길 바라네.
23자네가 전능자에게 돌아가면 살 것이네. 자네의 집에서 불의를 없애게나.
24자네의 보물을 던져 버리고, 정금을 냇가 바위에 던져 버리게나.
25그러면 전능자께서 자네의 금과 은이 되실 것일세.
26그래야 자네가 전능자로 말미암아 즐거워할 수 있으며, 자네 얼굴을 그분께 들 수 있을 걸세.
27그래야 그분께서 자네의 기도에 응답하시고 자네가 그분 앞에 약속한 것을 지킬 수 있지 않겠나.
28그러면 자네가 무슨 일을 하든지 형통하고, 자네가 가는 길에 빛이 환히 비췰 걸세.
29자네가 낮아진 때에, 믿음으로 '높아질지어다!'라고 말한다면, 그분께서 낮아진 자를 구원하실 것이네.
30자네의 깨끗한 손으로 말미암아 죄인까지도 구원을 받을 것일세."
