1'These are the laws you are to set before them:	1וְאֵלֶּה הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר תָּשִׂים לִפְנֵיהֶם׃
2'If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything.	2כִּי תִקְנֶה עֶבֶד עִבְרִי שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים יַעֲבֹד וּבַשְּׁבִעִת יֵצֵא לַחָפְשִׁי חִנָּם׃
3If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him.	3אִם־בְּגַפֹּו יָבֹא בְּגַפֹּו יֵצֵא אִם־בַּעַל אִשָּׁה הוּא וְיָצְאָה אִשְׁתֹּו עִמֹּו׃
4If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.	4אִם־אֲדֹנָיו יִתֶּן־לֹו אִשָּׁה וְיָלְדָה־לֹו בָנִים אֹו בָנֹות הָאִשָּׁה וִילָדֶיהָ תִּהְיֶה לַאדֹנֶיהָ וְהוּא יֵצֵא בְגַפֹּו׃
5"But if the servant declares, 'I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,'	5וְאִם־אָמֹר יֹאמַר הָעֶבֶד אָהַבְתִּי אֶת־אֲדֹנִי אֶת־אִשְׁתִּי וְאֶת־בָּנָי לֹא אֵצֵא חָפְשִׁי׃
6then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.	6וְהִגִּישֹׁו אֲדֹנָיו אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים וְהִגִּישֹׁו אֶל־הַדֶּלֶת אֹו אֶל־הַמְּזוּזָה וְרָצַע אֲדֹנָיו אֶת־אָזְנֹו בַּמַּרְצֵעַ וַעֲבָדֹו לְעֹלָם׃ ס
7'If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do.	7וְכִי־יִמְכֹּר אִישׁ אֶת־בִּתֹּו לְאָמָה לֹא תֵצֵא כְּצֵאת הָעֲבָדִים׃
8If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.	8אִם־רָעָה בְּעֵינֵי אֲדֹנֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר־[כ= לֹא] [ק= לֹו] יְעָדָהּ וְהֶפְדָּהּ לְעַם נָכְרִי לֹא־יִמְשֹׁל לְמָכְרָהּ בְּבִגְדֹו־בָהּ׃
9If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter.	9וְאִם־לִבְנֹו יִיעָדֶנָּה כְּמִשְׁפַּט הַבָּנֹות יַעֲשֶׂה־לָּהּ׃
10If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights.	10אִם־אַחֶרֶת יִקַּח־לֹו שְׁאֵרָהּ כְּסוּתָהּ וְעֹנָתָהּ לֹא יִגְרָע׃
11If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money.	11וְאִם־שְׁלָשׁ־אֵלֶּה לֹא יַעֲשֶׂה לָהּ וְיָצְאָה חִנָּם אֵין כָּסֶף׃ ס
12'Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death.	12מַכֵּה אִישׁ וָמֵת מֹות יוּמָת׃
13However, if he does not do it intentionally, but God lets it happen, he is to flee to a place I will designate.	13וַאֲשֶׁר לֹא צָדָה וְהָאֱלֹהִים אִנָּה לְיָדֹו וְשַׂמְתִּי לְךָ מָקֹום אֲשֶׁר יָנוּס שָׁמָּה׃ ס
14But if a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, take him away from my altar and put him to death.	14וְכִי־יָזִד* אִישׁ עַל־רֵעֵהוּ לְהָרְגֹו בְעָרְמָה מֵעִם מִזְבְּחִי תִּקָּחֶנּוּ לָמוּת׃ ס
15'Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death.	15וּמַכֵּה אָבִיו וְאִמֹּו מֹות יוּמָת׃
16'Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death.	16וְגֹנֵב אִישׁ וּמְכָרֹו וְנִמְצָא בְיָדֹו מֹות יוּמָת׃ ס
17'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.	17וּמְקַלֵּל אָבִיו וְאִמֹּו מֹות יוּמָת׃ ס
18'If men quarrel and one hits the other with a stone or with his fist and he does not die but is confined to bed,	18וְכִי־יְרִיבֻן אֲנָשִׁים וְהִכָּה־אִישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ בְּאֶבֶן אֹו בְאֶגְרֹף וְלֹא יָמוּת וְנָפַל לְמִשְׁכָּב׃
19the one who struck the blow will not be held responsible if the other gets up and walks around outside with his staff; however, he must pay the injured man for the loss of his time and see that he is completely healed.	19אִם־יָקוּם וְהִתְהַלֵּךְ בַּחוּץ עַל־מִשְׁעַנְתֹּו וְנִקָּה הַמַּכֶּה רַק שִׁבְתֹּו יִתֵּן וְרַפֹּא יְרַפֵּא׃ ס
20'If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished,	20וְכִי־יַכֶּה אִישׁ אֶת־עַבְדֹּו אֹו אֶת־אֲמָתֹו בַּשֵּׁבֶט וּמֵת תַּחַת יָדֹו נָקֹם יִנָּקֵם׃
21but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.	21אַךְ אִם־יֹום אֹו יֹומַיִם יַעֲמֹד לֹא יֻקַּם כִּי כַסְפֹּו הוּא׃ ס
22"If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows.	22וְכִי־יִנָּצוּ אֲנָשִׁים וְנָגְפוּ אִשָּׁה הָרָה וְיָצְאוּ יְלָדֶיהָ וְלֹא יִהְיֶה אָסֹון עָנֹושׁ יֵעָנֵשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר יָשִׁית עָלָיו בַּעַל הָאִשָּׁה וְנָתַן בִּפְלִלִים׃
23But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,	23וְאִם־אָסֹון יִהְיֶה וְנָתַתָּה נֶפֶשׁ תַּחַת נָפֶשׁ׃
24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,	24עַיִן תַּחַת עַיִן שֵׁן תַּחַת שֵׁן יָד תַּחַת יָד רֶגֶל תַּחַת רָגֶל׃
25burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.	25כְּוִיָּה תַּחַת כְּוִיָּה פֶּצַע תַּחַת פָּצַע חַבּוּרָה תַּחַת חַבּוּרָה׃ ס
26'If a man hits a manservant or maidservant in the eye and destroys it, he must let the servant go free to compensate for the eye.	26וְכִי־יַכֶּה אִישׁ אֶת־עֵין עַבְדֹּו אֹו־אֶת־עֵין אֲמָתֹו וְשִׁחֲתָהּ לַחָפְשִׁי יְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּ תַּחַת עֵינֹו׃ ס
27And if he knocks out the tooth of a manservant or maidservant, he must let the servant go free to compensate for the tooth.	27וְאִם־שֵׁן עַבְדֹּו אֹו־שֵׁן אֲמָתֹו יַפִּיל לַחָפְשִׁי יְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּ תַּחַת שִׁנֹּו׃ ף
28'If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull must be stoned to death, and its meat must not be eaten. But the owner of the bull will not be held responsible.	28וְכִי־יִגַּח שֹׁור אֶת־אִישׁ אֹו אֶת־אִשָּׁה וָמֵת סָקֹול יִסָּקֵל הַשֹּׁור וְלֹא יֵאָכֵל אֶת־בְּשָׂרֹו וּבַעַל הַשֹּׁור נָקִי׃
29If, however, the bull has had the habit of goring and the owner has been warned but has not kept it penned up and it kills a man or woman, the bull must be stoned and the owner also must be put to death.	29וְאִם שֹׁור נַגָּח הוּא מִתְּמֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם וְהוּעַד בִּבְעָלָיו וְלֹא יִשְׁמְרֶנּוּ וְהֵמִית אִישׁ אֹו אִשָּׁה הַשֹּׁור יִסָּקֵל וְגַם־בְּעָלָיו יוּמָת׃
30However, if payment is demanded of him, he may redeem his life by paying whatever is demanded.	30אִם־כֹּפֶר יוּשַׁת עָלָיו וְנָתַן פִּדְיֹן נַפְשֹׁו כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יוּשַׁת עָלָיו׃
31This law also applies if the bull gores a son or daughter.	31אֹו־בֵן יִגָּח אֹו־בַת יִגָּח כַּמִּשְׁפָּט הַזֶּה יֵעָשֶׂה לֹּו׃
32If the bull gores a male or female slave, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver to the master of the slave, and the bull must be stoned.	32אִם־עֶבֶד יִגַּח הַשֹּׁור אֹו אָמָה כֶּסֶף שְׁלֹשִׁים שְׁקָלִים יִתֵּן לַאדֹנָיו וְהַשֹּׁור יִסָּקֵל׃ ס
33'If a man uncovers a pit or digs one and fails to cover it and an ox or a donkey falls into it,	33וְכִי־יִפְתַּח אִישׁ בֹּור אֹו כִּי־יִכְרֶה אִישׁ בֹּר וְלֹא יְכַסֶּנּוּ וְנָפַל־שָׁמָּה שֹּׁור אֹו חֲמֹור׃
34the owner of the pit must pay for the loss; he must pay its owner, and the dead animal will be his.	34בַּעַל הַבֹּור יְשַׁלֵּם כֶּסֶף יָשִׁיב לִבְעָלָיו וְהַמֵּת יִהְיֶה־לֹּו׃ ס
35"If a man's bull injures the bull of another and it dies, they are to sell the live one and divide both the money and the dead animal equally.	35וְכִי־יִגֹּף שֹׁור־אִישׁ אֶת־שֹׁור רֵעֵהוּ וָמֵת וּמָכְרוּ אֶת־הַשֹּׁור הַחַי וְחָצוּ אֶת־כַּסְפֹּו וְגַם אֶת־הַמֵּת יֶחֱצוּן׃
36However, if it was known that the bull had the habit of goring, yet the owner did not keep it penned up, the owner must pay, animal for animal, and the dead animal will be his.	36אֹו נֹודַע כִּי שֹׁור נַגָּח הוּא מִתְּמֹול שִׁלְשֹׁם וְלֹא יִשְׁמְרֶנּוּ בְּעָלָיו שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם שֹׁור תַּחַת הַשֹּׁור וְהַמֵּת יִהְיֶה־לֹּו׃ ס
37כִּי יִגְנֹב־אִישׁ שֹׁור אֹו־שֶׂה וּטְבָחֹו אֹו מְכָרֹו חֲמִשָּׁה בָקָר יְשַׁלֵּם תַּחַת הַשֹּׁור וְאַרְבַּע־צֹאן תַּחַת הַשֶּׂה׃

1네가 백성 앞에 세울 법규는 이러하니라

2네가 히브리 종을 사면 그는 여섯 해 동안 섬길 것이요 일곱째 해에는 몸값을 물지 않고 나가 자유인이 될 것이며

3만일 그가 단신으로 왔으면 단신으로 나갈 것이요 장가 들었으면 그의 아내도 그와 함께 나가려니와

4만일 상전이 그에게 아내를 주어 그의 아내가 아들이나 딸을 낳았으면 그의 아내와 그의 자식들은 상전에게 속할 것이요 그는 단신으로 나갈 것이로되

5만일 종이 분명히 말하기를 내가 상전과 내 처자를 사랑하니 나가서 자유인이 되지 않겠노라 하면

6상전이 그를 데리고 재판장에게로 갈 것이요 또 그를 문이나 문설주 앞으로 데리고 가서 그것에다가 송곳으로 그의 귀를 뚫을 것이라 그는 종신토록 그 상전을 섬기리라

7사람이 자기의 딸을 여종으로 팔았으면 그는 남종 같이 나오지 못할지며

8만일 상전이 그를 기뻐하지 아니하여 상관하지 아니하면 그를 속량하게 할 것이나 상전이 그 여자를 속인 것이 되었으니 외국인에게는 팔지 못할 것이요

9만일 그를 자기 아들에게 주기로 하였으면 그를 딸 같이 대우할 것이요

10만일 상전이 다른 여자에게 장가 들지라도 그 여자의 음식과 의복과 동침하는 것은 끊지 말 것이요

11그가 이 세 가지를 시행하지 아니하면, 여자는 속전을 내지 않고 거저 나가게 할 것이니라

12사람을 쳐죽인 자는 반드시 죽일 것이나

13만일 사람이 고의적으로 한 것이 아니라 나 하나님이 사람을 그의 손에 넘긴 것이면 내가 그를 위하여 한 곳을 정하리니 그 사람이 그리로 도망할 것이며

14사람이 그의 이웃을 고의로 죽였으면 너는 그를 내 제단에서라도 잡아내려 죽일지니라

15자기 아버지나 어머니를 치는 자는 반드시 죽일지니라

16사람을 납치한 자가 그 사람을 팔았든지 자기 수하에 두었든지 그를 반드시 죽일지니라

17자기의 아버지나 어머니를 저주하는 자는 반드시 죽일지니라

18사람이 서로 싸우다가 하나가 돌이나 주먹으로 그의 상대방을 쳤으나 그가 죽지 않고 자리에 누웠다가

19지팡이를 짚고 일어나 걸으면 그를 친 자가 형벌은 면하되 그간의 손해를 배상하고 그가 완치되게 할 것이니라

20사람이 매로 그 남종이나 여종을 쳐서 당장에 죽으면 반드시 형벌을 받으려니와

21그가 하루나 이틀을 연명하면 형벌을 면하리니 그는 상전의 재산임이라

22사람이 서로 싸우다가 임신한 여인을 쳐서 낙태하게 하였으나 다른 해가 없으면 그 남편의 청구대로 반드시 벌금을 내되 재판장의 판결을 따라 낼 것이니라

23그러나 다른 해가 있으면 갚되 생명은 생명으로,

24눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로, 손은 손으로, 발은 발로,

25덴 것은 덴 것으로, 상하게 한 것은 상함으로, 때린 것은 때림으로 갚을지니라

26사람이 그 남종의 한 눈이나 여종의 한 눈을 쳐서 상하게 하면 그 눈에 대한 보상으로 그를 놓아 줄 것이며

27그 남종의 이나 여종의 이를 쳐서 빠뜨리면 그 이에 대한 보상으로 그를 놓아 줄지니라

28소가 남자나 여자를 받아서 죽이면 그 소는 반드시 돌로 쳐서 죽일 것이요 그 고기는 먹지 말 것이며 임자는 형벌을 면하려니와

29소가 본래 받는 버릇이 있고 그 임자는 그로 말미암아 경고를 받았으되 단속하지 아니하여 남녀를 막론하고 받아 죽이면 그 소는 돌로 쳐죽일 것이고 임자도 죽일 것이며

30만일 그에게 속죄금을 부과하면 무릇그 명령한 것을 생명의 대가로 낼 것이요

31아들을 받든지 딸을 받든지 이 법규대로 그 임자에게 행할 것이며

32소가 만일 남종이나 여종을 받으면 소 임자가 은 삼십 세겔을 그의 상전에게 줄 것이요 소는 돌로 쳐서 죽일지니라

33사람이 구덩이를 열어두거나 구덩이를 파고 덮지 아니하므로 소나 나귀가 거기에 빠지면

34그 구덩이 주인이 잘 보상하여 짐승의 임자에게 돈을 줄 것이요 죽은 것은 그가 차지할 것이니라

35이 사람의 소가 저 사람의 소를 받아 죽이면 살아 있는 소를 팔아 그 값을 반으로 나누고 또한 죽은 것도 반으로 나누려니와

36그 소가 본래 받는 버릇이 있는 줄을 알고도 그 임자가 단속하지 아니하였으면 그는 소로 소를 갚을 것이요 죽은 것은 그가 차지할지니라
