1When Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned safely to his palace in Jerusalem,
1וַיָּשָׁב יְהֹושָׁפָט מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה אֶל־בֵּיתֹו בְּשָׁלֹום לִירוּשָׁלִָם׃
2Jehu the seer, the son of Hanani, went out to meet him and said to the king, 'Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD ? Because of this, the wrath of the LORD is upon you.
2וַיֵּצֵא אֶל־פָּנָיו יֵהוּא בֶן־חֲנָנִי הַחֹזֶה וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ יְהֹושָׁפָט הֲלָרָשָׁע לַעְזֹר וּלְשֹׂנְאֵי יְהוָה תֶּאֱהָב וּבָזֹאת עָלֶיךָ קֶּצֶף מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה׃
3There is, however, some good in you, for you have rid the land of the Asherah poles and have set your heart on seeking God.'
3אֲבָל דְּבָרִים טֹובִים נִמְצְאוּ עִמָּךְ כִּי־בִעַרְתָּ הָאֲשֵׁרֹות מִן־הָאָרֶץ וַהֲכִינֹותָ לְבָבְךָ לִדְרֹשׁ הָאֱלֹהִים׃
4Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and turned them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
4וַיֵּשֶׁב יְהֹושָׁפָט בִּירוּשָׁלִָם ס וַיָּשָׁב וַיֵּצֵא בָעָם מִבְּאֵר שֶׁבַע עַד־הַר אֶפְרַיִם וַיְשִׁיבֵם אֶל־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹותֵיהֶם׃
5He appointed judges in the land, in each of the fortified cities of Judah.
5וַיַּעֲמֵד שֹׁפְטִים בָּאָרֶץ בְּכָל־עָרֵי יְהוּדָה הַבְּצֻרֹות לְעִיר וָעִיר׃
6He told them, 'Consider carefully what you do, because you are not judging for man but for the LORD, who is with you whenever you give a verdict.
6וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הַשֹּׁפְטִים רְאוּ מָה־אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים כִּי לֹא לְאָדָם תִּשְׁפְּטוּ כִּי לַיהוָה וְעִםָּכֶם בִּדְבַר מִשְׁפָּט׃
7Now let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.'
7וְעַתָּה יְהִי* פַחַד־יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם שִׁמְרוּ וַעֲשׂוּ כִּי־אֵין עִם־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַוְלָה וּמַשֹּׂא פָנִים וּמִקַּח־שֹׁחַד׃
8In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families to administer the law of the LORD and to settle disputes. And they lived in Jerusalem.
8וְגַם בִּירוּשָׁלִַם הֶעֱמִיד יְהֹושָׁפָט מִן־הַלְוִיִּם וְהַכֹּהֲנִים וּמֵרָאשֵׁי הָאָבֹות לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְמִשְׁפַּט יְהוָה וְלָרִיב וַיָּשֻׁבוּ יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃
9He gave them these orders: 'You must serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD.
9וַיְצַו עֲלֵיהֶם לֵאמֹר כֹּה תַעֲשׂוּן בְּיִרְאַת יְהוָה בֶּאֱמוּנָה וּבְלֵבָב שָׁלֵם׃
10In every case that comes before you from your fellow countrymen who live in the cities-whether bloodshed or other concerns of the law, commands, decrees or ordinances-you are to warn them not to sin against the LORD; otherwise his wrath will come on you and your brothers. Do this, and you will not sin.
10וְכָל־רִיב אֲשֶׁר־יָבֹוא עֲלֵיכֶם מֵאֲחֵיכֶם הַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּעָרֵיהֶם בֵּין־דָּם לְדָם בֵּין־תֹּורָה לְמִצְוָה לְחֻקִּים וּלְמִשְׁפָּטִים וְהִזְהַרְתֶּם אֹתָם וְלֹא יֶאְשְׁמוּ לַיהוָה וְהָיָה־קֶצֶף עֲלֵיכֶם וְעַל־אֲחֵיכֶם כֹּה תַעֲשׂוּן וְלֹא תֶאְשָׁמוּ׃
11'Amariah the chief priest will be over you in any matter concerning the LORD, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the tribe of Judah, will be over you in any matter concerning the king, and the Levites will serve as officials before you. Act with courage, and may the LORD be with those who do well.'
11וְהִנֵּה אֲמַרְיָהוּ כֹהֵן הָרֹאשׁ עֲלֵיכֶם לְכֹל דְּבַר־יְהוָה וּזְבַדְיָהוּ בֶן־יִשְׁמָעֵאל הַנָּגִיד לְבֵית־יְהוּדָה לְכֹל דְּבַר־הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשֹׁטְרִים הַלְוִיִּם לִפְנֵיכֶם חִזְקוּ וַעֲשׂוּ וִיהִי יְהוָה עִם־הַטֹּוב׃ ף
1유다 왕 여호사밧이 평안히 예루살렘에 돌아와서 그의 궁으로 들어가니라
2하나니의 아들 선견자 예후가 나가서 여호사밧 왕을 맞아 이르되 왕이 악한 자를 돕고 여호와를 미워하는 자들을 사랑하는 것이 옳으니이까 그러므로 여호와께로부터 진노하심이 왕에게 임하리이다
3그러나 왕에게 선한 일도 있으니 이는 왕이 아세라 목상들을 이 땅에서 없애고 마음을 기울여 하나님을 찾음이니이다 하였더라
4여호사밧이 예루살렘에 살더니 다시 나가서 브엘세바에서부터 에브라임 산지까지 민간에 두루 다니며 그들을 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께로 돌아오게 하고
5또 유다 온 나라의 견고한 성읍에 재판관을 세우되 성읍마다 있게 하고
6재판관들에게 이르되 너희가 재판하는 것이 사람을 위하여 할 것인지 여호와를 위하여 할 것인지를 잘 살피라 너희가 재판할 때에 여호와께서 너희와 함께 하심이니라
7그런즉 너희는 여호와를 두려워하는 마음으로 삼가 행하라 우리의 하나님 여호와께서는 불의함도 없으시고 치우침도 없으시고 뇌물을 받는 일도 없으시니라 하니라
8여호사밧이 또 예루살렘에서 레위 사람들과 제사장들과 이스라엘 족장들 중에서 사람을 세워 여호와께 속한 일과 예루살렘 주민의 모든 송사를 재판하게 하고
9그들에게 명령하여 이르되 너희는 진실과 성심을 다하여 여호와를 경외하라
10어떤 성읍에 사는 너희 형제가 혹 피를 흘림이나 혹 율법이나 계명이나 율례나 규례로 말미암아 너희에게 와서 송사하거든 어떤 송사든지 그들에게 경고하여 여호와께 죄를 범하지 않게 하여 너희와 너희 형제에게 진노하심이 임하지 말게 하라 너희가 이렇게 행하면 죄가 없으리라
11여호와께 속한 모든 일에는 대제사장 아마랴가 너희를 다스리고 왕에게 속한 모든 일은 유다 지파의 어른 이스마엘의 아들 스바댜가 다스리고 레위 사람들은 너희 앞에 관리가 되리라 너희는 힘써 행하라 여호와께서 선한 자와 함께 하실지로다 하니라
