1Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. His mother's name was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah; she was from Bozkath. |
1בֶּן־שְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנָה יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ בְמָלְכֹו וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וְאַחַת שָׁנָה מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם וְשֵׁם אִמֹּו יְדִידָה בַת־עֲדָיָה מִבָּצְקַת׃ |

2He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD and walked in all the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left. |
2וַיַּעַשׂ הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה וַיֵּלֶךְ בְּכָל־דֶּרֶךְ דָּוִד אָבִיו וְלֹא־סָר יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאול׃ ף |

3In the eighteenth year of his reign, King Josiah sent the secretary, Shaphan son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, to the temple of the LORD. He said: |
3וַיְהִי בִּשְׁמֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה לַמֶּלֶךְ יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ שָׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת־שָׁפָן בֶּן־אֲצַלְיָהוּ בֶן־מְשֻׁלָּם הַסֹּפֵר בֵּית יְהוָה לֵאמֹר׃ |

4'Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him get ready the money that has been brought into the temple of the LORD, which the doorkeepers have collected from the people. |
4עֲלֵה אֶל־חִלְקִיָּהוּ הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹול וְיַתֵּם אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַמּוּבָא בֵּית יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר אָסְפוּ שֹׁמְרֵי הַסַּף מֵאֵת הָעָם׃ |

5Have them entrust it to the men appointed to supervise the work on the temple. And have these men pay the workers who repair the temple of the LORD- |
5[כ= וְיִתְּנֹה] [ק= וְיִתְּנֻהוּ] עַל־יַד עֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה הַמֻּפְקָדִים [כ= בְּבֵית] [ק= בֵּית] יְהוָה וְיִתְּנוּ אֹתֹו לְעֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶׁר בְּבֵית יְהוָה לְחַזֵּק בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת׃ |

6the carpenters, the builders and the masons. Also have them purchase timber and dressed stone to repair the temple. |
6לֶחָרָשִׁים וְלַבֹּנִים וְלַגֹּדְרִים וְלִקְנֹות עֵצִים וְאַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב לְחַזֵּק אֶת־הַבָּיִת׃ |

7But they need not account for the money entrusted to them, because they are acting faithfully.' |
7אַךְ לֹא־יֵחָשֵׁב אִתָּם הַכֶּסֶף הַנִּתָּן עַל־יָדָם כִּי בֶאֱמוּנָה הֵם עֹשִׂים׃ |

8Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, 'I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the LORD.' He gave it to Shaphan, who read it. |
8וַיֹּאמֶר חִלְקִיָּהוּ הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹול עַל־שָׁפָן הַסֹּפֵר סֵפֶר הַתֹּורָה מָצָאתִי בְּבֵית יְהוָה וַיִּתֵּן חִלְקִיָּה אֶת־הַסֵּפֶר אֶל־שָׁפָן וַיִּקְרָאֵהוּ׃ |

9Then Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him: 'Your officials have paid out the money that was in the temple of the LORD and have entrusted it to the workers and supervisors at the temple.' |
9וַיָּבֹא שָׁפָן הַסֹּפֵר אֶל־הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיָּשֶׁב אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּבָר וַיֹּאמֶר הִתִּיכוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַנִּמְצָא בַבַּיִת וַיִּתְּנֻהוּ עַל־יַד עֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה הַמֻּפְקָדִים בֵּית יְהוָה׃ |

10Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, 'Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.' And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. |
10וַיַּגֵּד שָׁפָן הַסֹּפֵר לַמֶּלֶךְ לֵאמֹר סֵפֶר נָתַן לִי חִלְקִיָּה הַכֹּהֵן וַיִּקְרָאֵהוּ שָׁפָן לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ׃ |

11When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. |
11וַיְהִי כִּשְׁמֹעַ הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת־דִּבְרֵי סֵפֶר הַתֹּורָה וַיִּקְרַע אֶת־בְּגָדָיו׃ |

12He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Acbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king's attendant: |
12וַיְצַו הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת־חִלְקִיָּה הַכֹּהֵן וְאֶת־אֲחִיקָם בֶּן־שָׁפָן וְאֶת־עַכְבֹּור בֶּן־מִיכָיָה וְאֵת שָׁפָן הַסֹּפֵר וְאֵת עֲשָׂיָה עֶבֶד־הַמֶּלֶךְ לֵאמֹר׃ |

13"Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD's anger that burns against us because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us." |
13לְכוּ דִרְשׁוּ אֶת־יְהוָה בַּעֲדִי וּבְעַד־הָעָם וּבְעַד כָּל־יְהוּדָה עַל־דִּבְרֵי הַסֵּפֶר הַנִּמְצָא הַזֶּה כִּי־גְדֹולָה חֲמַת יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר־הִיא נִצְּתָה בָנוּ עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹא־שָׁמְעוּ אֲבֹתֵינוּ עַל־דִּבְרֵי הַסֵּפֶר הַזֶּה לַעֲשֹׂות כְּכָל־הַכָּתוּב עָלֵינוּ׃ |

14Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to speak to the prophetess Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the Second District. |
14וַיֵּלֶךְ חִלְקִיָּהוּ הַכֹּהֵן וַאֲחִיקָם וְעַכְבֹּור וְשָׁפָן וַעֲשָׂיָה אֶל־חֻלְדָּה הַנְּבִיאָה אֵשֶׁת שַׁלֻּם בֶּן־תִּקְוָה בֶּן־חַרְחַס שֹׁמֵר הַבְּגָדִים וְהִיא יֹשֶׁבֶת בִּירוּשָׁלִַם בַּמִּשְׁנֶה וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלֶיהָ׃ |

15She said to them, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Tell the man who sent you to me, |
15וַתֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִמְרוּ לָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַח אֶתְכֶם אֵלָי׃ |
|
16'This is what the LORD says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read. |
16כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה הִנְנִי מֵבִיא רָעָה אֶל־הַמָּקֹום הַזֶּה וְעַל־יֹשְׁבָיו אֵת כָּל־דִּבְרֵי הַסֵּפֶר אֲשֶׁר קָרָא מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה׃ |
|
17Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and provoked me to anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.' |
17תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר עֲזָבוּנִי וַיְקַטְּרוּ לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לְמַעַן הַכְעִיסֵנִי בְּכֹל מַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיהֶם וְנִצְּתָה חֲמָתִי בַּמָּקֹום הַזֶּה וְלֹא תִכְבֶּה׃ |

18Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard: |
18וְאֶל־מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה הַשֹּׁלֵחַ אֶתְכֶם לִדְרֹשׁ אֶת־יְהוָה כֹּה תֹאמְרוּ אֵלָיו כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר שָׁמָעְתָּ׃ |
|
19Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people, that they would become accursed and laid waste, and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the LORD. |
19יַעַן רַךְ־לְבָבְךָ וַתִּכָּנַע מִפְּנֵי יְהוָה בְּשָׁמְעֲךָ אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי עַל־הַמָּקֹום הַזֶּה וְעַל־יֹשְׁבָיו לִהְיֹות לְשַׁמָּה וְלִקְלָלָה וַתִּקְרַע אֶת־בְּגָדֶיךָ וַתִּבְכֶּה לְפָנָי וְגַם אָנֹכִי שָׁמַעְתִּי נְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ |

20Therefore I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be buried in peace. Your eyes will not see all the disaster I am going to bring on this place.' " So they took her answer back to the king. |
20לָכֵן הִנְנִי אֹסִפְךָ עַל־אֲבֹתֶיךָ וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ אֶל־קִבְרֹתֶיךָ בְּשָׁלֹום וְלֹא־תִרְאֶינָה עֵינֶיךָ בְּכֹל הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִי מֵבִיא עַל־הַמָּקֹום הַזֶּה וַיָּשִׁיבוּ אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּבָר׃ |
1요시야가 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 팔 세라 예루살렘에서 삼십일 년간 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 여디다요 보스갓 아다야의 딸이더라
2요시야가 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하여 그의 조상 다윗의 모든 길로 행하고 좌우로 치우치지 아니하였더라
3요시야 왕 열여덟째 해에 왕이 므술람의 손자 아살리야의 아들 서기관 사반을 여호와의 성전에 보내며 이르되
4너는 대제사장 힐기야에게 올라가서 백성이 여호와의 성전에 드린 은 곧 문 지킨 자가 수납한 은을 계산하여
5여호와의 성전을 맡은 감독자의 손에 넘겨 그들이 여호와의 성전에 있는 작업자에게 주어 성전에 부숴진 것을 수리하게 하되
6곧 목수와 건축자와 미장이에게 주게 하고 또 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사서 그 성전을 수리하게 하라
7그러나 그들의 손에 맡긴 은을 회계하지 말지니 이는 그들이 진실하게 행함이니라
8대제사장 힐기야가 서기관 사반에게 이르되 내가 여호와의 성전에서 율법책을 발견하였노라 하고 힐기야가 그 책을 사반에게 주니 사반이 읽으니라
9서기관 사반이 왕에게 돌아가서 보고하여 이르되 왕의 신복들이 성전에서 찾아낸 돈을 쏟아 여호와의 성전을 맡은 감독자의 손에 맡겼나이다 하고
10또 서기관 사반이 왕에게 말하여 이르되 제사장 힐기야가 내게 책을 주더이다 하고 사반이 왕의 앞에서 읽으매
11왕이 율법책의 말을 듣자 곧 그의 옷을 찢으니라
12왕이 제사장 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가야의 아들 악볼과 서기관사반과 왕의 시종 아사야에게 명령하여 이르되
13너희는 가서 나와 백성과 온 유다를 위하여 이 발견한 책의 말씀에 대하여 여호와께 물으라 우리 조상들이 이 책의 말씀을 듣지 아니하며 이 책에 우리를 위하여 기록된 모든 것을 행하지 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 우리에게 내리신 진노가 크도다
14이에 제사장 힐기야와 또 아히감과 악볼과 사반과 아사야가 여선지 훌다에게로 나아가니 그는 할하스의 손자 디과의 아들로서 예복을 주관하는 살룸의 아내라 예루살렘 둘째 구역에 거주하였더라 그들이 그와 더불어 말하매
15훌다가 그들에게 이르되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 너희는 너희를 내게 보낸 사람에게 말하기를
16여호와의 말씀이 내가 이 곳과 그 주민에게 재앙을 내리되 곧 유다 왕이 읽은 책의 모든 말대로 하리니
17이는 이 백성이 나를 버리고 다른 신에게 분향하며 그들의 손의 모든 행위로 나를 격노하게 하였음이라 그러므로 내가 이 곳을 향하여 내린 진노가 꺼지지 아니하리라 하라 하셨느니라
18너희를 보내 여호와께 묻게 한 유다 왕에게는 너희가 이렇게 말하라 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 네가 들은 말들에 대하여는
19내가 이 곳과 그 주민에게 대하여 빈 터가 되고 저주가 되리라 한 말을 네가 듣고 마음이 부드러워져서 여호와 앞 곧 내 앞에서 겸비하여 옷을 찢고 통곡하였으므로 나도 네 말을 들었노라 여호와가 말하였느니라
20그러므로 보라 내가 너로 너의 조상들에게 돌아가서 평안히 묘실로 들어가게 하리니 내가 이 곳에 내리는 모든 재앙을 네 눈이 보지 못하리라 하셨느니라 하니 사자들이 왕에게 보고하니라
