6월 20일 이사야 30:21 너희가 오른쪽으로 치우치든지 왼쪽으로 치우치든지 네 뒤에서 말소리가 네 귀에 들려 이르기를 이것이 바른 길이니 너희는 이리로 가라 할 것이며
의심이 들거나 어려움이 닥쳤을 때, 다른 사람들이 서로 상반된 여러 방침을 제시할 때, 몹시 신중하게 접근한 방식을 주장하는데 믿음이 다른 방식을 이야기할 때, 우리는 잠잠해야 합니다. 우리는 간섭하는 사람들을 물리치고 그 거룩하신 임재의 고요 안에 잠겨야 합니다. 말씀을 공부하며 인도하심을 구하고 정성을 다해 그분께 집중해야 합니다. 우리는 그분의 얼굴에서 나오는 참되신 빛 가운데로 우리의 마음을 향하여서, 우리 주 하나님께서 우리를 위해 결정하시는 것만을 일심으로 알고자 해야 합니다. 그리하면 곧 그분께서 내밀히 상담하시며 한 치의 오차도 없는 방향감각을 드러내 보이십니다.
아직 어린 신자들이 이러한 방법에만 의존하는 것은 지혜롭지 못합니다. 환경 또한 하나님께서 계시하는 것과 일치할 때까지 기다려야 합니다. 하지만 하나님과 동행한 경험이 많은 그리스도인들은, 주님과의 친밀한 사귐이 그분의 뜻을 분별하는 한 가지 방법으로서 얼마나 가치가 큰지 알고 있습니다.
어느 방향으로 가야 하는지 확신이 서지 않습니까? 문제를 들고 주님께 가서 인도함을 받으십시오. 승낙하시든 거절하시든 답을 주실 것입니다. 반드시 주님 하고만 있어야 합니다. 이 세상의 빛이나 어둠이 간섭할 수 없는 곳, 다른 이들의 의견이 들리지 않는 곳이어야 합니다. 또한 주위의 모든 사람들이 즉각적인 결행을 강하게 주장할 때도 침묵으로 기대하며 끝까지 기다리는 용기가 있어야 합니다. 이와 같이 하면 하나님의 뜻이 밝히 드러날 것입니다. 또 그분에 대한 인식이 깊어지고, 그분의 성품과 사랑의 마음이 더욱더 섬세히 우리 가슴에 와닿을 것입니다.
이 모두가 우리의 둘도 없는 선물이 됩니다. 우리의 거룩한 경험이고 영원한 특권이며, 오랜 기다림으로 받는 넘치는 상급입니다.
"잠잠하라.” 내 영혼아, 주께서 말씀하시니,
길이 막힌 것 같을 때도 그분의 지혜로운 손에 맡기라,
그분의 팔 강하여 파도를 가른다.
"잠잠하라.” 내 영혼아, 잠잠하면 알리라,
네게 불가능한 것 하나님께서 행하심을,
그분의 구원 크고 크심에.
애타는 마음 물리치고 잠잠하라.
네 영혼이 영문을 모르도록
사방에서 욱여쌈을 당해도, 너 잠잠하기까지
막힌 너의 길 평탄케 하실 수 없고
너 잠잠해야, 거룩하신 뜻 네 안에서 행하시고
네 마음과 뜻 그분 앞에 부복하리니.
"잠잠하라.” 내 영혼아, 너 침묵하는 그 순간에야
하나님께서 모습 보이실 수 있으니, 네게서
그분의 사랑과 빛과 생명 흘러나오기까지 잠잠하라,
침묵 속에서 하나님 너를 통해 일하시고, 네 곁의
다른 영혼들에게 가실 수 있나니, 그렇게 가셔서
당신의 교훈 가르치시고, 약한 데서 그 능력 드러내시리라.
“잠잠하라.” 믿음과 안식의 깊은 데로 가는 발걸음이니,
"가만히 있어 알지어다. 네 아버지께서 그 아름다운 나라
가는 길 가장 잘 아시니, 자녀들 인도하시리라.
잔잔한 물 흐르는 여름 나라,
갈한 영혼들 만족하고 “그들의 하나님을 알며”
계획하신 모든 일로 인해 찬송 드리는 그 나라.

Secret Fellowship
Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left — Isa 30:21
When we are in doubt or difficulty, when many voices urge this course or the other, when prudence utters one advice and faith another, then let us be still, hushing each intruder, calming ourselves in the sacred hush of God’s presence; let us study His Word in the attitude of devout attention; let us lift up our nature into the pure light of His face, eager only to know what God the Lord shall determine — and ere long a very distinct impression will be made, the unmistakable forth-telling of His secret counsel.
It is not wise in the earlier stages of Christian life to depend on this alone, but to wait for the corroboration of circumstances. But those who have had many dealings with God know well the value of secret fellowship with Him, to ascertain His will.
Are you in difficulty about your way? Go to God with your question; get direction from the light of His smile or the cloud of His refusal.
If you will only get alone, where the lights and shadows of earth cannot interfere, where human opinions fail to reach and if you will dare to wait there silent and expectant, though all around you insist on immediate decision or action — the will of God will be made clear; and you will have a new conception of God, a deeper insight into His nature and heart of love, which shall be for yourself alone a rapturous experience, to abide your precious perquisite forever, the rich guerdon of those long waiting hours. — David
“STAND STILL,” my soul, for so thy Lord commands:
E’en when thy way seems blocked, leave it in His wise hands;
His arm is mighty to divide the wave.
“Stand still,” my soul, “stand still” and thou shalt see
How God can work the “impossible” for thee,
For with a great deliverance He doth save.
Be not impatient, but in stillness stand,
Even when compassed ’round on every hand,
In ways thy spirit does not comprehend.
God cannot clear thy way till thou art still,
That He may work in thee His blessed will,
And all thy heart and will to Him do bend.
“BE STILL,” my soul, for just as thou art still,
Can God reveal Himself to thee; until
Through thee His love and light and life can freely flow;
In stillness God can work through thee and reach
The souls around thee. He then through thee can teach
His lessons, and His power in weakness show.
“BE STILL”— a deeper step in faith and rest.
“Be still and know” thy Father knoweth best
The way to lead His child to that fair land,
A “summer” land, where quiet waters flow;
Where longing souls are satisfied, and “know
Their God,” and praise for all that He has planned.
