41. 이튿날, 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 모세와 아론에게 항거하면서 말하였다. "당신들이 주님의 백성을 죽였소."
42. 온 회중이 모세와 아론을 규탄할 때에, 모세와 아론이 회막 쪽을 바라보니, 회막에 갑자기 구름이 덮이고, 주님의 영광이 거기에 나타났다.
43. 모세와 아론이 회막 앞으로 가니,
44. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
45. "너희 두 사람은 이 회중에게서 떠나라. 그들을 내가 순식간에 없애 버리겠다." 이 말을 듣고, 두 사람이 땅에 엎드렸다.
46. 모세가 아론에게 말하였다. "형님께서는, 향로에 제단 불을 담고, 그 위에 향을 피워, 빨리 회중에게로 가서, 그들을 위하여 속죄의 예식을 베푸십시오. 주님께서 진노하셔서, 재앙이 시작되었습니다."
47. 아론이 모세의 말을 듣고, 향로를 가지고 회중에게로 달려갔다. 백성 사이에는 이미 염병이 번지고 있었다. 아론이 백성에게 속죄의 예식을 베풀었다.
48. 아론이 살아 있는 사람과 죽은 사람 사이에 서니, 재앙이 그쳤다.
49. 이 염병으로 죽은 사람이 만 사천칠백 명이나 되었다. 이것은 고라의 일로 죽은 사람 수는 뺀 것이다.
50. 재앙이 그치자, 아론은 회막 어귀에 있는 모세에게로 돌아왔다.

41. The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. "You have killed the LORD's people," they said.
42. But when the assembly gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the Tent of Meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.
43. Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting,
44. and the LORD said to Moses,
45. "Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once." And they fell facedown.
46. Then Moses said to Aaron, "Take your censer and put incense in it, along with fire from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the LORD; the plague has started."
47. So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them.
48. He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.
49. But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.
50. Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for the plague had stopped.

1. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.
2. "너는 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들에게서 지팡이를 모아라. 각 종족별로 지팡이 하나씩, 곧 각 종족마다 한 지도자에게서 하나씩, 지팡이가 열두 개이다. 너는 각자의 이름을 그 지팡이 위에 써라.
3. 레위의 지팡이 위에는 아론의 이름을 써라. 각 종족별로 우두머리마다 지팡이가 하나씩 있어야 하기 때문이다.
4. 너는 그것들을 회막 안, 내가 너희에게 나 자신을 알리는 곳인 그 증거궤 앞에 두어라.
5. 내가 택하는 바로 그 한 사람의 지팡이에서는 움이 돋아날 것이다. 너희를 거역하여 불평하는 이스라엘 자손의 불만을 내가 없애고야 말겠다."
6. 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 말하니, 각 지도자마다 지팡이 하나씩을 그에게 주었다. 각 종족마다 한 지도자에 지팡이가 하나씩이므로, 지팡이는 열두 개였다. 아론의 지팡이도 그 지팡이들 가운데에 있었다.
7. 모세는 그 지팡이들을 증거의 장막 안, 주님 앞에 놓았다.
8. 이튿날이 되어, 모세가 증거의 장막 안으로 들어갔다. 레위 집안 아론의 지팡이에는 움이 돋았을 뿐 아니라, 싹이 나고, 꽃이 피고, 감복숭아 열매까지 맺은 것이 아닌가!
9. 모세는 모든 지팡이를, 주 앞에서 이스라엘 자손 모두에게로 가지고 나왔다. 그들은 그것들을 보았다. 저마다 자신의 지팡이를 집어들었다.
10. 주님께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "아론의 지팡이는 증거궤 앞으로 도로 가져다 놓아, 반역하는 사람들에게 표적이 되도록 잘 간직하여라. 너는 다시는 그들이 나를 거역하여 원망하지 못하게 하여라. 그래야만 그들이 죽지 아니할 것이다."
11. 모세는 주님께서 명하신 대로 하였다.
12. 이스라엘 자손이 모세에게 다음과 같이 말하였다. "우리는 죽게 되었습니다. 망하게 되었습니다. 다 망하게 되었습니다.
13. 가까이 가는 사람, 곧 주님의 성막에 가까이 가는 사람은 모두 죽을 터이니, 우리가 이렇게 망하는 것으로 끝장이 나야 합니까?"

1. The LORD said to Moses,
2. "Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.
3. On the staff of Levi write Aaron's name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.
4. Place them in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.
5. The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites."
6. So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron's staff was among them.
7. Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
8. The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
9. Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the LORD's presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each man took his own staff.
10. The LORD said to Moses, "Put back Aaron's staff in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die."
11. Moses did just as the LORD commanded him.
12. The Israelites said to Moses, "We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!
13. Anyone who even comes near the tabernacle of the LORD will die. Are we all going to die?"
1. וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר׃
2. דבר אל בני ישראל וקח מאתם מטה מטה לבית אב מאת כל נשיאהם לבית אבתם שנים עשר מטות איש את שמו תכתב על מטהו׃
3. ואת שם אהרן תכתב על מטה לוי כי מטה אחד לראש בית אבותם׃
4. והנחתם באהל מועד לפני העדות אשר אועד לכם שמה׃
5. והיה האיש אשר אבחר בו מטהו יפרח והשכתי מעלי את תלנות בני ישראל אשר הם מלינם עליכם׃
6. וידבר משה אל בני ישראל ויתנו אליו כל נשיאיהם מטה לנשיא אחד מטה לנשיא אחד לבית אבתם שנים עשר מטות ומטה אהרן בתוך מטותם׃
7. וינח משה את המטת לפני יהוה באהל העדת׃
8. ויהי ממחרת ויבא משה אל אהל העדות והנה פרח מטה אהרן לבית לוי ויצא פרח ויצץ ציץ ויגמל שקדים׃
9. ויצא משה את כל המטת מלפני יהוה אל כל בני ישראל ויראו ויקחו איש מטהו׃
10. ויאמר יהוה אל משה השב את מטה אהרן לפני העדות למשמרת לאות לבני מרי ותכל תלונתם מעלי ולא ימתו׃
11. ויעש משה כאשר צוה יהוה אתו כן עשה׃
12. ויאמרו בני ישראל אל משה לאמר הן גוענו אבדנו כלנו אבדנו׃
13. כל הקרב הקרב אל משכן יהוה ימות האם תמנו לגוע׃
