1Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"	1וְהַנָּחָשׁ הָיָה עָרוּם מִכֹּל חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־הָאִשָּׁה אַף כִּי־אָמַר אֱלֹהִים לֹא תֹאכְלוּ מִכֹּל עֵץ הַגָּן׃
2The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,	2וַתֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁה אֶל־הַנָּחָשׁ מִפְּרִי עֵץ־הַגָּן נֹאכֵל׃
3but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "	3וּמִפְּרִי הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר בְּתֹוךְ־הַגָּן אָמַר אֱלֹהִים לֹא תֹאכְלוּ מִמֶּנּוּ וְלֹא תִגְּעוּ בֹּו פֶּן־תְּמֻתוּן׃
4"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman.	4וַיֹּאמֶר הַנָּחָשׁ אֶל־הָאִשָּׁה לֹא־מֹות תְּמֻתוּן׃
5"For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."	5כִּי יֹדֵעַ אֱלֹהִים כִּי בְּיֹום אֲכָלְכֶם מִמֶּנּוּ וְנִפְקְחוּ עֵינֵיכֶם וִהְיִיתֶם כֵּאלֹהִים יֹדְעֵי טֹוב וָרָע׃
6When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.	6וַתֵּרֶא הָאִשָּׁה כִּי טֹוב הָעֵץ לְמַאֲכָל וְכִי תַאֲוָה־הוּא לָעֵינַיִם וְנֶחְמָד הָעֵץ לְהַשְׂכִּיל וַתִּקַּח מִפִּרְיֹו וַתֹּאכַל וַתִּתֵּן גַּם־לְאִישָׁהּ עִמָּהּ וַיֹּאכַל׃
7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.	7וַתִּפָּקַחְנָה עֵינֵי שְׁנֵיהֶם וַיֵּדְעוּ כִּי עֵירֻםִּם הֵם וַיִּתְפְּרוּ עֲלֵה תְאֵנָה וַיַּעֲשׂוּ לָהֶם חֲגֹרֹת׃
8Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.	8וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ אֶת־קֹול יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים מִתְהַלֵּךְ בַּגָּן לְרוּחַ הַיֹּום וַיִּתְחַבֵּא הָאָדָם וְאִשְׁתֹּו מִפְּנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים בְּתֹוךְ עֵץ הַגָּן׃
9But the LORD God called to the man, " Where are you? "	9וַיִּקְרָא יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים אֶל־הָאָדָם וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו אַיֶּכָּה׃
10He answered, " I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."	10וַיֹּאמֶר אֶת־קֹלְךָ שָׁמַעְתִּי בַּגָּן וָאִירָא כִּי־עֵירֹם אָנֹכִי וָאֵחָבֵא׃
11And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"	11וַיֹּאמֶר מִי הִגִּיד לְךָ כִּי עֵירֹם אָתָּה הֲמִן־הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִיךָ לְבִלְתִּי אֲכָל־מִמֶּנּוּ אָכָלְתָּ׃
12The man said, "The woman you put here with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."	12וַיֹּאמֶר הָאָדָם הָאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּה עִמָּדִי הִוא נָתְנָה־לִּי מִן־הָעֵץ וָאֹכֵל׃
13Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."	13וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים לָאִשָּׁה מַה־זֹּאת עָשִׂית וַתֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁה הַנָּחָשׁ הִשִּׁיאַנִי וָאֹכֵל׃
14So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.	14וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהִים אֶל־הַנָּחָשׁ כִּי עָשִׂיתָ זֹּאת אָרוּר אַתָּה מִכָּל־הַבְּהֵמָה וּמִכֹּל חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה עַל־גְּחֹנְךָ תֵלֵךְ וְעָפָר תֹּאכַל כָּל־יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ׃
15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he willcrush your head, and you will strike his heel."	15וְאֵיבָה אָשִׁית בֵּינְךָ וּבֵין הָאִשָּׁה וּבֵין זַרְעֲךָ וּבֵין זַרְעָהּ הוּא יְשׁוּפְךָ רֹאשׁ וְאַתָּה תְּשׁוּפֶנּוּ עָקֵב׃ ס
16To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. "	16אֶל־הָאִשָּׁה אָמַר הַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה עִצְּבֹונֵךְ וְהֵרֹנֵךְ בְּעֶצֶב תֵּלְדִי בָנִים וְאֶל־אִישֵׁךְ תְּשׁוּקָתֵךְ וְהוּא יִמְשָׁל־בָּךְ׃ ס
17To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.	17וּלְאָדָם אָמַר כִּי־שָׁמַעְתָּ* לְקֹול אִשְׁתֶּךָ וַתֹּאכַל מִן־הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִיךָ לֵאמֹר לֹא תֹאכַל מִמֶּנּוּ אֲרוּרָה הָאֲדָמָה בַּעֲבוּרֶךָ בְּעִצָּבֹון תֹּאכֲלֶנָּה כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ׃
18It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.	18וְקֹוץ וְדַרְדַּר תַּצְמִיחַ לָךְ וְאָכַלְתָּ אֶת־עֵשֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶה׃
19By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."	19בְּזֵעַת אַפֶּיךָ תֹּאכַל לֶחֶם עַד שׁוּבְךָ אֶל־הָאֲדָמָה כִּי מִמֶּנָּה לֻקָּחְתָּ כִּי־עָפָר אַתָּה וְאֶל־עָפָר תָּשׁוּב׃
20Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.	20וַיִּקְרָא הָאָדָם שֵׁם אִשְׁתֹּו חַוָּה כִּי הִוא הָיְתָה אֵם כָּל־חָי׃
21The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.	21וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים לְאָדָם וּלְאִשְׁתֹּו כָּתְנֹות עֹור וַיַּלְבִּשֵׁם׃ ף
22And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reachout his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."	22וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים הֵן הָאָדָם הָיָה כְּאַחַד מִמֶּנּוּ לָדַעַת טֹוב וָרָע וְעַתָּה פֶּן־יִשְׁלַח יָדֹו וְלָקַח גַּם מֵעֵץ הַחַיִּים וְאָכַל וָחַי לְעֹלָם׃
23So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.	23וַיְשַׁלְּחֵהוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים מִגַּן־עֵדֶן לַעֲבֹד אֶת־הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר לֻקַּח מִשָּׁם׃
24After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.	24וַיְגָרֶשׁ אֶת־הָאָדָם וַיַּשְׁכֵּן מִקֶּדֶם לְגַן־עֵדֶן אֶת־הַכְּרֻבִים וְאֵת לַהַט הַחֶרֶב הַמִּתְהַפֶּכֶת לִשְׁמֹר אֶת־דֶּרֶךְ עֵץ הַחַיִּים׃ ס

1뱀은, 주 하나님이 만드신 모든 들짐승 가운데서 가장 간교하였다. 뱀이 여자에게 물었다. "하나님이 정말로 너희에게, 동산 안에 있는 모든 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라고 말씀하셨느냐?"

2여자가 뱀에게 대답하였다. "우리는 동산 안에 있는 나무의 열매를 먹을 수 있다.

3그러나 하나님은, 동산 한가운데 있는 나무의 열매는, 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라고 하셨다. 어기면 우리가 죽는다고 하셨다."

4뱀이 여자에게 말하였다. "너희는 절대로 죽지 않는다.

5하나님은, 너희가 그 나무 열매를 먹으면, 너희의 눈이 밝아지고, 하나님처럼 되어서, 선과 악을 알게 된다는 것을 아시고, 그렇게 말씀하신 것이다."

6여자가 그 나무의 열매를 보니, 먹음직도 하고, 보암직도 하였다. 그뿐만 아니라, 사람을 슬기롭게 할 만큼 탐스럽기도 한 나무였다. 여자가 그 열매를 따서 먹고, 함께 있는 남편에게도 주니, 그도 그것을 먹었다.

7그러자 두 사람의 눈이 밝아져서, 자기들이 벗은 몸인 것을 알고, 무화과나무잎으로 치마를 엮어서, 몸을 가렸다.

8그 남자와 그 아내는, 날이 저물고 바람이 서늘할 때에, 주 하나님이 동산을 거니시는 소리를 들었다. 남자와 그 아내는 주 하나님의 낯을 피하여서, 동산 나무 사이에 숨었다.

9주 하나님이 그 남자를 부르시며 물으셨다. "네가 어디에 있느냐?"

10그가 대답하였다. "하나님께서 동산을 거니시는 소리를, 제가 들었습니다. 저는 벗은 몸인 것이 두려워서 숨었습니다."

11하나님이 물으셨다. "네가 벗은 몸이라고, 누가 일러주더냐? 내가 너더러 먹지 말라고 한 그 나무의 열매를, 네가 먹었느냐?"

12그 남자는 핑계를 대었다. "하나님께서 저와 함께 살라고 짝지어 주신 여자, 그 여자가 그 나무의 열매를 저에게 주기에, 제가 그것을 먹었습니다."

13주 하나님이 그 여자에게 물으셨다. "너는 어쩌다가 이런 일을 저질렀느냐?" 여자도 핑계를 대었다. "뱀이 저를 꾀어서 먹었습니다."

14주 하나님이 뱀에게 말씀하셨다. "네가 이런 일을 저질렀으니, 모든 집짐승과 들짐승 가운데서 네가 저주를 받아, 사는 동안 평생토록 배로 기어다니고, 흙을 먹어야 할 것이다.

15내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고, 너의 자손을 여자의 자손과 원수가 되게 하겠다. 여자의 자손은 너의 머리를 상하게 하고, 너는 여자의 자손의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이다."

16여자에게는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "내가 너에게 임신하는 고통을 크게 더할 것이니, 너는 고통을 겪으며 자식을 낳을 것이다. 네가 남편을 지배하려고 해도 남편이 너를 다스릴 것이다."

17남자에게는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "네가 아내의 말을 듣고서, 내가 너에게 먹지 말라고 한 그 나무의 열매를 먹었으니, 이제, 땅이 너 때문에 저주를 받을 것이다. 너는, 죽는 날까지 수고를 하여야만, 땅에서 나는 것을 먹을 수 있을 것이다.

18땅은 너에게 가시덤불과 엉겅퀴를 낼 것이다. 너는 들에서 자라는 푸성귀를 먹을 것이다.

19너는 흙에서 나왔으니, 흙으로 돌아갈 것이다. 그 때까지, 너는 얼굴에 땀을 흘려야 낟알을 먹을 수 있을 것이다. 너는 흙이니, 흙으로 돌아갈 것이다."

20아담은 자기 아내의 이름을 하와라고 하였다. 그가 생명이 있는 모든 것의 어머니이기 때문이다.

21주 하나님이 가죽옷을 만들어서, 아담과 그의 아내에게 입혀 주셨다.

22주 하나님이 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 이 사람이 우리 가운데 하나처럼, 선과 악을 알게 되었다. 이제 그가 손을 내밀어서, 생명나무의 열매까지 따서 먹고, 끝없이 살게 하여서는 안 된다."

23그래서 주 하나님은 그를 에덴 동산에서 내쫓으시고, 그가 흙에서 나왔으므로, 흙을 갈게 하셨다.

24그를 쫓아내신 다음에, 에덴 동산의 동쪽에 그룹들을 세우시고, 빙빙 도는 불칼을 두셔서, 생명나무에 이르는 길을 지키게 하셨다.
