7월 4일 하박국 2:3 이 묵시는 정한 때가 있나니 그 종말이 속히 이르겠고 결코 거짓되지 아니하리라 비록 더딜지라도 기다리라 지체되지 않고 반드시 응하리라
매력적인 소책자 "기다림의 모퉁이"에서 아담 슬로맨이라는 등장인물이 주님의 보물창고로 안내되었습니다. 그의 눈앞에 드러난 진귀한 것들 가운데 지연된 축복의 방이 있었습니다. 하나님께서 기한이 이를 때까지 어떤 기도에 대한 응답을 쌓아 두시는 방이었습니다.
응답을 기대하며 기도하는 어떤 이들의 경우, 응답의 지연은 거절이 아님을 알기까지 오랜 시간이 걸립니다. 사실, 지연된 축복의 방에는 우리가 상상하지 못한 사랑과 지혜의 깊은 비밀이 있습니다. 우리는 아직 익지도 않은 축복의 열매를 따려는 경향이 있지만, 하나님께서는 그 축복들이 나무에서 완전히 익을 때까지 기다리기를 원하십니다.
"여호와께서 기다리시나니 이는 너희에게 은혜를 베풀려 하심이요........ 그를 기다리는 자마다 복이 있도다” (사 30:18). 주께서는 우리가 어떠한 어려움에 처해 있든지 지켜보시며, 우리가 감당 못할 시련은 결코 허락하지 아니하십니다. 또한 당신의 정련의 불을 사용하셔서 우리의 부정한 것들을 모두 태워 없애신 후에 우리의 영광스러운 구원이 되실 것입니다.
그분의 사랑을 의심하지 마십시오. 그분께서 슬퍼하시는 의심은 거두고, 이미 여러분을 향해 다가오는 그 구원을 인하여 바로 지금 눈을 들어 그분을 찬양하십시오. 그리하면 여러분의 믿음에 시련이 된 그 지연으로 오히려 풍성한 상급이 있을 것입니다.
오, 믿음 없는 너여,
하나님께서 너를 저버렸을 것 같으냐!
모든 것이 흐리고 어두우니
너는 참 빨리도 잊는구나.
그분께서 너를 인도하시고
온유하게 길을 내시며
먹구름 너머로 햇빛 쏟아부으시고
밤을 낮으로 바꾸심을 너는 잊었구나.
그분께서 지금까지 너를 도우셨다면
이제도 너를 저버리지 않으시리라,
그러므로 근심 가득한 얼굴 거두라.
사랑하는 그분의 가슴 아프시니!!
오! 더 이상 의심 말고
그분께 네 길을 맡겨라.
이전에 네가 믿었던 그분
오늘도 동일하시니.

Delayed Blessings
For the Vision is yet for an appointed time... though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry — Hab 2:3
In the charming little booklet, Expectation Corner, Adam Slowman was led into the Lord’s treasure houses, and among many other wonders there revealed to him was the “Delayed Blessings Office,” where God kept certain things, prayed for, until the wise time came to send them.
It takes a long time for some pensioners to learn that delays are not denials. Ah, there are secrets of love and wisdom in the “Delayed Blessings Department,” which are little dreamt of! Men would pluck their mercies green when the Lord would have them ripe. “Therefore will the Lord WAIT, that He may be gracious unto you” (Isa. 30:18). He is watching in the hard places and will not allow one trial too many; He will let the dross be consumed, and then He will come gloriously to your help.
Do not grieve Him by doubting His love. Nay, lift up your head, and begin to praise Him even now for the deliverance which is on the way to you, and you will be abundantly rewarded for the delay which has tried your faith.
O Thou of little faith,
God hath not failed thee yet!
When all looks dark and gloomy,
Thou dost so soon forget —
Forget that He has led thee,
And gently cleared thy way;
On clouds has poured His sunshine,
And turned thy night to day.
And if He’s helped thee hitherto,
He will not fail thee now;
How it must wound His loving heart
To see thy anxious brow!
Oh! doubt not any longer,
To Him commit thy way,
Whom in the past thou trusted,
