7월 29일 욥기 38:22-23 네가 눈 곳간에 들어갔었느냐 우박 창고를 보았느냐 내가 환난 때와 교전과 전쟁의 날을 위하여 이것을 남겨 두었노라
시련은 큰 기회이지만 우리는 흔히 장애물로만 봅니다. 모든 곤경과 어려움을 하나님께서 당신의 사랑을 증명하시고자 선택하신 어떤 것으로 보기만 한다면, 장애물은 결국 우리의 피난처요 안식의 장소가 되고, 다른 이들에게는 그분의 놀라운 능력을 보여주는 기회가 될 것입니다. 그분의 오묘하신 솜씨를 보여주는 증거를 찾는다면 모든 구름은 진정으로 무지개가 되고, 험난한 산길은 승천과 변화와 영광의 길이 될 것입니다.
우리의 과거를 돌아보십시오. 크게 시달리고 모든 길이 막혔던 그때가, 사실은 아버지께서 우리에게 축복을 베푸시고 선을 행하시고자 선택하신 기간이었음을 우리들 대부분이 알게 될 것입니다.
하나님의 가장 아름다운 보석은 상대하기 어려운 사람들에 의해 조잡한 꾸러미로 배달되지만, 포장지 안에는 왕의 궁전에서 보낸 보석과 신랑의 사랑이 들어 있을 것입니다.
우리는 어둠 속에서도 주님을 의지해야 하고 어려운 상황에서도 흔들림 없는 신뢰로 그분을 영화롭게 해야 합니다. 이러한 믿음의 상급은, 아마도 털갈이하는 독수리의 믿음에 주어진다고들 하는 보상과도 같을 것입니다. 그것은 젊음과 힘이 다시 찾아왔다는 느낌입니다.
우리가 하나님처럼
오늘 이후를 볼 수 있다면,
모든 구름 걷히고
어두운 그림자 사라진다면,
우리 앞의 이 슬픔 힘들겠는가.
모든 슬픔 곧 잊지 않겠는가.
너와 나를 기다리는 기쁨
그토록 많을 테니.
우리가 하나님처럼
오늘 이후를 볼 수 있다면,
그토록 소중한 것들이 왜 떠나고,
왜 우리 눈에 눈물 흐르겠는가.
어둠이 빛 되는 일 있겠으며,
음산한 길이 곧 밝아질 수 있겠는가.
그러므로 믿음은 이렇게 말한다네,
어느 날 삶의 어려움 바로 잡히리라.
"볼 수 있다면, 알 수 있다면, “
우리는 늘 그렇게 말하지만
하나님께서는 사랑으로
우리의 길을 가리시네.
앞에 놓인 것 볼 수 없으니
우리 이전보다 더 주님께 매달리고
그분 우리 인생 끝날 때까지 인도하시네.
믿고 순종하리라.

Our Great Opportunities
Hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, which I have reserved against the day of trouble? — Job 38:22-23
Our trials are great opportunities. Too often we look on them as great obstacles. It would be a haven of rest and an inspiration of unspeakable power if each of us would henceforth recognize every difficult situation as one of God’s chosen ways of proving to us His love and look around for the signals of His glorious manifestations; then, indeed, would every cloud become a rainbow, and every mountain a path of ascension and a scene of transfiguration.
If we will look back upon the past, many of us will find that the very time our Heavenly Father has chosen to do the kindest things for us, and given us the richest blessings, has been the time we were strained and shut in on every side. God’s jewels are often sent us in rough packages and by dark liveried servants, but within we find the very treasures of the King’s palace and the Bridegroom’s love. — A. B. Simpson
