저를 둘러싸고 있는 바깥세상에도 계시며, 또 제 안에도 늘 계시고,
제 위의 보이지 않는 세계에 늘 계시는 전능하신 하나님,
오늘 하루의 삶을 지날 때 주님의 권능과 영광을 가장 실감 나게 경험하게 하옵소서.
오 하나님,
오늘 당신의 손이 행하신 일만 보다가 정작 그것들을 만드신 창조주를 생각하지 않는 날이 되지 않게 하옵소서.
하늘이 제게 주님의 영광을 선포하고, 언덕이 당신의 엄위하심을 선포하게 하소서. 모든 덧없는 아름다움이 제게 시들지 않는 아름다움에 대해 말하게 하소서. 땅의 아름다움은 저에게 주 예수 그리스도 안에서 명백하게 나타난 거룩한 아름다움의 상징이 되게 하옵소서.
제 안에 계신 오 하나님,
오늘 제 영혼 안에서 주님의 성령의 활동을 감지하고, 주께서 제게 말씀하시는 것을 가장 주의하여 들을 수 있는 은혜를 베풀어 주옵소서.
세상의 소음이 당신의 말씀을 들을 수 없을 만큼 저를 혼란스럽게 하지 못하게 하옵소서.
주님의 명령의 의미에 대해서 제 자신을 속이지 않도록 필요하시다면 역경도 허락하여 주옵소서. 그리고 이 모든 것 가운데서 제가 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜로 주의 뜻에 순종할 수 있게 하옵소서.
제 위에 계신 오 하나님, 이제 간구하오니 감히 다가갈 수 없는 빛 가운데 거하시는 주님께서 저를 가르치시어 주님에 관한 저의 가장 탁월한 사상마저도 주님의 초월적인 영광의 희미하고 아련한 그림자일 뿐임을 알게 하여 주옵소서.
주께서 자연 가운데 계시더라도 주님은 자연보다 훨씬 위대하신 분임을 가르쳐 주옵소서.
주께서 제 마음에 계시더라도, 주님은 제 마음보다 훨씬 위대하신 분임을 가르쳐 주옵소서.
제 영혼이 주님의 신비한 위대하심을 즐거워합니다.
주께서는 완전히 저를 초월하시고, 제 상상을 초월하시고, 제 이해를 초월하시고, 주님의 판단은 헤아릴 수 없고, 주님의 길은 찾을 수 없다는 생각으로 저의 피난처를 삼게 하소서.
오 주님, 주님의 이름이 높임을 받으시길 원하나이다. 아멘.
Almighty God, who exists ever present in the world without me, in my spirit within me, and in the unseen world above me, let me carry with me through this day's life a most real sense of Your power and Your glory.
God around me, forbid that I should look today upon the work of Your hands and give no thought to You the Maker. Let the heavens declare Your glory to me and the hills Your majesty. Let every fleeting loveliness I see speak to me of a loveliness that does not fade. Let the beauty of earth be to me a sacrament of the beauty of holiness made manifest in Jesus Christ my Lord.
God within me, give me grace today to recognize the stirrings of Your Spirit within my soul and to listen most attentively to all that You have to say to me. Let not the noises of the world ever so confuse me that I cannot hear You speak. Suffer me never to deceive myself as to the meaning of Your commands; and so let me in all things obey Your will, through the grace of Jesus Christ my Lord.
God above me, God who dwells in light unapproachable, teach me, I ask You, that even my highest thoughts of You are but dim and distant shadowings of Your transcendent glory. Teach me that if You are in nature, still more are You greater than nature. Teach me that if You are in my heart, still more are You greater than my heart. Let my soul rejoice in Your mysterious greatness. Let me take refuge in the thought that You are utterly beyond me, beyond the sweep of my imagination, beyond the comprehension of my mind, Your judgments being unsearchable and Your ways past finding out.
Lord, hallowed be Your name. Amen.
내가 존재하지 않을 때에도 계셨고, 내 영 안에 함께 계시며, 내 위에 보이지 않는 세상에 계신 능력의 하나님, 나를 종일토록 당신의 능력과 영광에 대한 참된 깨달음으로 인도하여 주소서.
내가 존재하지 않을 때에도 계신 하나님, 오늘도 나로 하여금 창조자이신 당신의 생각 없이 이 세상을 바라보지 말게 하소서. 저 하늘이 당신의 영광을 저 산들이 당신의 위엄을 드러내게 하여 주소서. 내가 바라보는 지나가는 사랑스러운 것들이 사라지지 않는 당신의 사랑을 내게 말하게 하여 주소서. 이 땅의 아름다움이 내 주 예수 그리스도께서 이루신 거룩한 아름다움의 성례전이 되게 하여 주소서.
내 안에 계신 하나님, 오늘도 나에게 은혜를 주셔서 당신의 성령이 나의 영혼을 움직이시는 것을 알게 하시고, 주께서 나에게 하시는 모든 말씀을 경청하게 하소서. 세상의 잡음이 나를 혼란시켜 당신의 말씀을 듣지 못하는 일이 없게 하소서. 당신의 명하신 말씀을 왜곡하는 일이 없게 하소서. 그리하여 나의 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 통하여 모든 일에서 당신의 뜻을 따르게 하소서.
내 위에 계시고 가까이 할 수 없는 빛 가운데 계신 하나님, 당신께 간구하오니 당신에 대한 나의 가장 고상한 생각이라도 당신의 초월적인 영광에 비하면 희미하고도 먼 그림자 밖에 되지 못함을 가르쳐 주소서. 주님은 자연 안에 계시지만 자연보다 위대한 분임을 나에게 가르쳐 주소서. 주님은 내 마음에 계시지만 나의 마음보다 위대하신 분임을 가르쳐 주소서. 내 영혼이 당신의 신비한 위대함을 즐거워하게 하소서. 당신은 나를 넘어서 계시고, 내 모든 상상 위에 계시고, 내 마음의 이해력 너머에 계신다는 생각으로 나로 하여금 도피처를 찾게 하여 주소서. 당신의 판단은 헤아릴 수 없으며 당신의 길은 찾지 못합니다.
