8월 30일 시편 107:23-24 배들을 바다에 띄우며 큰 물에서 일을 하는 자는 여호와께서 행하신 일들과 그의 기이한 일들을 깊은 바다에서 보나니
우리는 하늘을 향해 나아갈 때에 불어오는 모든 바람을 이용할 수 있습니다. 이 사실을 모르는 사람은 틀림없이 아직 항해기술을 배우지 못한 초보자입니다. 사실, 어떻게 해볼 수 없는 것은 바다에서 만나는 무풍지대뿐입니다. 동서남북을 막론하고 어느 쪽으로든 불기만 한다면, 바람은 기쁨의 항구로 가도록 우리를 돕습니다. 그러므로 구할 것은 이뿐이니, 부디 먼 바다로 나아가십시오. 거기서 폭풍을 두려워하지 마십시오. 우리의 기도가 어느 나이 든 영국인의 기도처럼 되기를 빕니다. “주님, 우리를 바다 깊은 곳으로 보내소서. 해안에 너무 가까이 있어서 저 마귀에게서 나오는 작은 바람으로도 암초에 걸려 파선할까 싶습니다. 주님, 거듭 아룁니다, 우리를 바다 깊은 데로 보내소서. 거기 영광스러운 승리의 기회가 넘치겠습니다."
기억하십시오. 우리의 믿음은 언제나 시련의 한가운데서 정점에 이르며, 육신에 대한 확신으로는 결코 시련을 견디지 못할 것입니다. 어려울 때 도움이 되지 않는 믿음은 믿음도 아닙니다.

Deep Faith
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; these see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep — Ps 107:23-24
He is but an apprentice and no master in the art, who has not learned that every wind that blows is fair for Heaven. The only thing that helps nobody, is a dead calm. North or south, east or west, it matters not, every wind may help towards that blessed port. Seek one thing only: keep well out to sea, and then have no fear of stormy winds. Let our prayer be that of an old Cornishman: “O Lord, send us out to sea — out in the deep water. Here we are so close to the rocks that the first bit of breeze with the devil, we are all knocked to pieces. Lord, send us out to sea — out in the deep water, where we shall have room enough to get a glorious victory.”— Mark Guy Pearse.
